Advice needed

When I bought my car I was given 3 years AA cover, Last year I paid for a year.

It's up for renewal and I have been quoted £149.00. Rang them and was quoted £96.00. Whwne I queried this was told that the letters are generated automatically with a non discounted price.

I have loked on line at Green Flag and for the same type of cover is £74.00.

Does anyone use Green Flag and would you recommend them?

Sheffield

green flag were recommended to me by a recovery driver who doesn't work for them! Apparently their drivers get a bonus for getting to vehicles in under a certain time so are always quick - very useful if you are a woman who drives alone.

We use them on a corporate contract.

Never had an issue with them at all over the last 5 years and we have about 10 company vehicles.

Green Flag did it for me a few years back..;-)

Just check that your company will get your car home or to a garage near you...

Some drop you off at the nearest garage to your breakdown... Not a great help if you live in Lands End and break down in John OGroats...

I've been with the AA for over thirty years and have always received frist class service, sure there are cheaper insurance policies out there but the differences are mostly in the small print, my AA policy covers me personally so even if I am in your vehicle and it breaks down, they have to come and recover/fix it, so , simples darling, you just have to take me everywhere with you lol, hugz, Ruby, xxxx

ANytime Ruby and yes Green Flag offer the same.

They all seem to offer big discounts and then recoup it the following year.

Maybe next year I'll try the RAC

ha ha, bless you sweetie, yes that does seem to be the usual thing, not only for roadside recovery but for car insurance too, the companies rely on people leaving the policy rather than spending ten minutes checking out other options, whichever you choose, safe and happy motoring darlnk, mwah, xxx

I have never seen a green flag logo break down van...when I was with them they used to send out any ol tom dick or harry who had a pick up and they always wanted to tow you in instead of trying to fix the problem..

They rely on contract work tied in with deals from insurance companies etc..

Didnt enjoy my experience with them at all.

RAC for us now..

"check your bank acount cover car brack downs, mine dose even thow i dont drive lol "

Yes, I have that but it`s only basic cover.

Last year I broke down on the M5 near Cheltenham. We were sat on the hard shoulder for 45 minutes until a flat bed lorry picked us up, the priority being to clear you off the motorway. We were "dumped" in a Travelodge car park and waited another 45 minutes before an AA man arrived in an ordinary van. The problem couldn`t be fixed but to get my car back to the Bournemouth area but I had to upgrade my cover. The only thing I`ve been thinking about is that I`m still paying for my basic cover with the bank! It`s far from a good deal.
