Hi everyone,

How are the black tie events in the UK?? Talking about dress code. Ladies with gowns/ cocktail dress and guys with tuxedos and bow tie?? Are they quite strict or more relax??

It's nice to dress up.

What were you thinking of wearing.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

If it's a black tie event then I'd wear a gown or smarter cocktail dress.

I'd expect men to be in a DJ and black bow tie.

I think if the invitation says black tie then it's going to be fairly strict dress code

Black tie generally means incredibly smart formal and sparkling wear- one can wear swap it for formal ethnic wear.

Basically you need to look sleek

Wear it James Bond style - undone

Or use the self tying bow ties rather than the prefixed ones

Strict cocktail dresses may not be allowed.

I went to a black tie boxing event and looked on the website for the dress code. Women were allowed to wear trousers; which was great, as I don't wear dresses.

They don't want people turning up in jeans and t shirts or trainers.

Personally I wouldn’t wear black as a lady! The guys will mostly be in black tuxedos so you’ll disappear into a sea of black! Unless you want to blend in, of course, I’d suggest you wear an alternative to black! X

Depends who's knickers I get into... ahem.... a true Scotsman never wears underwear under a kilt. He's got his sporran to keep him warm
