"Does the term 'professional couple' on here, mean they both get paid for there jobs? " Of course they'd get paid for their jobs - as most people are. The term 'professional' indicates there are formal qualifications required in order to do the job. I tend to think of professionals to be the likes of solicitors, doctors, teachers, bankers, accountants, IT specialists etc Other people may have a different view.

"It means that they have jobs, but for whatever reason consider their jobs to be more important than most people's and would only like to meet people who are similarly arrogant. Haha, that's what I concluded! " you can genuinely conclude that people are arrogant because they describe themselves as professional

"I'm a professional bricklayer." . This (or something similar) comes up every time. There’s a difference between a noun and an adjective, and there’s a difference between the noun ‘professional’ and the adjective ‘professional’. . The thing that I don’t get is why people get pissy about others using it, then go to any length to classify themselves as it too. It makes no sense. . Let it go.

They are the sort of people who probably have their degree certificate framed on the wall and are in MENSA.

"The other thing that folk need to learn is that this site isn’t the only place where the word ‘professional’ is used to mean something specific. It’s used across the whole English-speaking world, and has been for a very, very long time. Announcing, “I’m a professional window cleaner,” on a swinging site forum will not change a thing." The point isn't that they fit into the "professional" category of workers, it is their need to announce it on a swingers website which is the telling part.

They don't need to - I wouldn't message a profile that I thought belonged to dullards anyway. It's almost as bad as the sort of people who like to have conversations about their salary in public.

"The word professional causes offence to some people and not others. And people get inexplicably annoyed by the actions of people they claim to have no interest in." The only person who has got irritated so far is you. It doesn't make me angry if I read a profile and I think it's been written by a knobhead, I just.... roll my eyes and get on with my day. I'm finding it mildly amusing how some on here are so desperate to infer that either or I (or anyone else on this thread) doesn't like professional people - that isn't true. It's not about what they do for a living, it's why they feel it necessary to mention it. It's very "Hyacinth Bucket".....

"You seem to be having s bit of difficulty with reading comprehension. I’m not irritated. I’m not the one being bafflingly snarky about the words other people use to define themselves. . And nobody has accused you of disliking professionals. The distinction that it’s those who use the term is quite clear. That doesn’t make your prissiness about it any less amusing to the casual observer. . You claim to roll your eyes and get on with your day, and yet here you are, repeatedly whining about it. Go and get on with your day." Are you in MENSA? Do you have your degree certificate framed on the wall? I've clearly hit a nerve....

"In conclusion I think professional couple means no chavs! Poor Onslow. " Are you on a mission to wind folk up tonight?! Professional folk - pah - half the time it’s misspelt... I avoid those profiles. Oh, and none of my degree certificates are on the wall - if I’m honest I don’t know where they are!

" Are you in MENSA? Do you have your degree certificate framed on the wall? I've clearly hit a nerve...." As I said, you have difficulty with reading comprehension. I stated my position on this quite clearly. And, since you have difficulty, no, I’m not in Mensa, and no, I don’t have my degree certificate framed on the wall. . But nor do I have a childish preoccupation with how others choose to spend their time or identify themselves.

"Does the term 'professional couple' on here, mean they both get paid for there jobs? Does it bother you? What that they get paid for there jobs, not at all, I think everyone should get paid for there jobs!" No ....at people's use of the P word. There's an element of reverse snobbery in people's judgement, do you think? People can write what they wish, but I'd take far more heed of their opinions and attitude, than the simple use of that word, to describe their situation in life?

"How you market yourself on fab is entirely up to the members concerned . Generally the term would mean that someone has obtained additional qualifications and will be a member of a governing body. It is simply a piece of additional information concerning a member . If you have worked hard for qualifications there is no reason why you should not be able to mention it . I guess that those who have these qualifications have probably guessed that it may put a small number of narrow minded or intolerant people off.." Well said. I just can't understand what the issue is. It's just a way of expressing a preference. Why belittle those who choose to use it. If it's something that irks you just move on.

"I know where the butthurt is coming from and it ain't from people who choose not to talk about their job on a swingers site profile.... Another analogy: If I see a car with a personalised number plate, I don't get offended or annoyed. Do I think the person driving it is probably a bit of a cock and possibly have a small chuckle depending upon the ridiculousness of the number plate? Yes, yes I do. " Fair enough, you aren’t butt hurt. But why would you describe a whole group of people as dullards, arrogant or cocks? I’m not ashamed to admit that I’d be extremely hurt if someone who doesn’t know me described me as such, just because I do things a bit different from them. Mrs
