My youngest has just left home. I feel completely lost in an empty house. How have you survived this feeling?

Unfortunately I’m not allowed any pets. Otherwise I would definitely get a fur baby or two

You need to distract yourself and keep yourself busy. Have the radio on so you always have background noise. Get out and about and enjoy your own space and not having anyone to answer to or explain where you're going to.

Host a Fab party?

Keep busy. Plan things to do that you couldn't before, like nights away. Resist the temptation to just veg on the sofa.

My daughter went today for a week with her Dad. Kind of feel like I should be doing something now but I'm still sitting on the sofa watching tv like I would if she was here and in bed.

I'm still waiting for my last one to fly away. I think I may be waiting forever.

I feel incredibly sad, like I’ve lost my best friend. The sofa seems like it’s apart of me already

You need a new hobby, something different to focus on.

Are some of your friends in the same situation? Could you go out with them?

We actively looked forward to ours leaving home. Our youngest went a week after their 17th birthday.

It wasn't because we didn't like having them at home but because we deliberately looked on it as a celebration of them moving on with their lives in the way they're supposed to.

We enjoyed having the freedom to do things we hadn't been able to for years.

Brighton - even Hove!

When they leave we will be rattling around in a big house so might move and downsize, free up some equity and buy a yacht.
