As he's a Russian defector, I would have no doubt that the Russian "Establishment" is responsible. I doubt that Putin was involved... although he is a very "hands on" leader.

Don't believe it for a minute. The fact that Boris has tried to start the next cold war with an out an out lie but has faced no criticism is beyond my comprehension

Nope.

They lied saying they had proof the chemical was made in Russia. Although difficult they can tell where nearly ever chemical in the world came from in these things and pinpointing to russia should not have been a problem.

They misled calling it a russian nerve agent, when the only country on record ever making it is Iran. However the OPCW said years ago they think every country makes it for research, and to develop treatements, and wished more would list it with them.

Several sites used by the ussr were found to develop the nerve agent. Ukraine had to invite USA/UK in to clean up the area in one lab but most former USSR countries are thought to have stockpiles and it might actually originate from czech republic/ukraine area.

Although hard to make, it can be made in a fertalizer plant, one of the reasons so many countries are afraid to list it, is because its binary safe meaning its easy to transport, and compared to other chemicals where all their ingredients are banned, easier to make.

Lastly, you can call putin whatever you want, evil, a dictator etc, but he is without doubt one of the top tacticians on the planet.

Saudi arabia admitted they pushed extreme islam all across the middle east on the request of America to stop Russia getting a foothold. It got them out of Afghanistan. But now Russia is firmly in Syria, Iran, and will be entering Iraq soon, they have also made friends with Turkey, and will likely spread into other countries like Egypt, Lybia.

In other words, Putin used their tactics against them. Putin also does not retaliate as much as people think. Turkey shot down one of his jets, and he sold them their most advanced ground to air missiles in response.

Why Putin would order the execution of some has-been double agent spy from decades ago during a presidential campaign is just idiotic. Russia had him caught, had him in jail, swapped him for one of their agents. Russia was happy with the deal.

It's far more likely that this agent, who once was a major player, who knows of these chemicals and possibly had access to porton down where chemicals were stored, or even had some safely stored from his old days. No longer of any importance, all of his information obsolete, decided to kill himself and implicate Russia in the process. His last hoorah.

If the fsb moved on their own, Putin would have them killed. I think thats a non starter. I think people would be fearful of putin more than wanting some sort of revenge from decades ago.

If I had to hazard a guess...

I'd say he was likely poisoned by a Russian using Russian made novichok.

Why is harder to say but at a guess.

I'd say it was a joint effort between parts of the FSB,Mi6 and the CIA, the man was not that critical bit useful plus he knows something about that dossier on trump because he was part of the informants that sir Christopher Steele was using to buy information about trump's Russian connections using money supplied by the Clinton Foundation.

In a mixed up world there is no good and bad just money and commerce

Putin wouldn’t hesitate to have someone offed, and I don’t see what we gain from framing Russia. At the same time are government aren’t trustworthy either.

"If Putin/Russia were responsible? What was there motive?"

At the same time there was another Russian who died in the UK tat has gone by the wayside, Nikolai Glushkov, not through chem weapons but with highly suspicious stranglation marks non the less. There is no motive by Putin here either other than being his critic.

Try again

Probably the English, porton down just round corner etc, as yet no definitive proof has come out, probably being used as a deflection tactic to get brexit p

out the news, as it's all about Russia at the minute.

Done to boost Putins "don't fuck with me" persona just before an "ahem" election... No doubt about it in my view.

I dont for one minute think Putin was behind it. the family are no threat to Putin, they arent dissidents or trouble makers and this all happened years ago.

IMHO, Putin is not responsible, just because the poison made is of Russian origin and manufacture does not mean the Russians did it.

So many factions in that part of the world now have access to this kind of weapon/agent, anyone could have done it.

I think our government was too quick to point the finger before all the evidence had been gathered. They're playing a very risky game at the moment

He was already in prison in Russia for that. Why not just execute him there for treason.

Because sending a message to people that it doesn't matter where you are, how long ago you did stuff or how unimportant you are..."they" will still hunt you down and try to kill you horribly. Possibly.
