just listening to "the man who sold the world" the nirvana version, so good of a cover it makes the original sound boring.

i'd put it up there with the clash version of "police & thieves" as the best cover version.

no doubt you fabbers have other opinions

West Midlands

An obvious one but Joe Cocker takes a decent Beatles tune and makes it flipping EPIC “With a little help from my friends”

The Town by The Cross

Listen to Sound of Silence - Disturbed

and Sean Lennon, Rufus , and Moby - Across the universe....

I also like Pink doing Janis Joplin's Mercedes Benz or Bobby McGee...

BEST cover ever for me is MUSTARD the homeless man doing CREEP.... out emotions Radio Head by a long shot.

Where to begin?

Johnny Cash’s cover of Personal Jesus;

and just to be cheeky, Robbie Williams’ cover of She’s the One.

Janis Joplins : Summertime, Grace Jones Private Life. Bowies : Wild is The Wind to name three but the one that always does it for me Johnny Cash : Hurt. Watch the video filmed shortly before his death. Gets me everytime.

Just around the corner

iTunes has just reminded me of this gem:

Bryan Ferry’s cover of These Foolish Things.

https://youtu.be/NbSp_xEa3PI

It’s from an album of the same name which is all an eclectic selection of covers, including fantastically menacing versions of It’s My Party, and Sympathy for The Devil.
