I agree. but at 26 I think lad is still ok.

I'm wondering more why guys my age and above refer to themselves as a lad?

This irks me too.

I think early to mid twenties is about right for not calling yourself a lad anymore.

The only time I'll except girl is if I'm being referred to as naughty. Some how naughty woman doesn't have the same ring to it

Guys often create a new profile with 'lad' etc in the name and then a while later complain that people think they're too young to be swinging

It's something to grow out of, after teenage years, so twenties should be the maximum. I don't think most people here want to meet very mature 'lads', so it's a bit stupid to use it as a profile name. It's possibly a good filter that many people use though.
