The mouse is too lightweight to trigger the trap so you might need a different one?

One cute little mouse can cause quite a bit of damage so make sure you catch it quickly.

Do you know how it got in?

If you catch it you are supposed to set it free a least a mile from home to prevent it from returning!!

North Bucks

Had a massive one in my shed. Tried everything it just walked about with impunity and would sit watching me from under the shelves.

As above it was too light for the humane traps and didn’t go near any others. I had to do something terrible which I felt bad about for days In the end.

If they wasn’t so destructive I would have let it chill as long as it wanted.

If it's just a field mouse that wandered in I shouldn't think they'll be more... Well not just yet

Make sure you put all food stuff in cupboards and plastic containers so it has nothing to eat.

Use peanut butter so it has to stay there and lick it up can’t run off with it give your trap chance to go off I’d avoid poison as it will die and then stink in your house

A twelve bore shotgun and a box of cartridges. Take a comfy chair and and book into the kitchen and bolt the doors. It's a battle of wills and only one can leave alive. Move all the food into the middle of the floor an wait. When he shows his face, start shooting. You can fix the kitchen up again once he's gone.

Obviously, try the humane trap a few more times first

If it's a female you'll have 20 of them soon.

All pissing and shitting around your food.

It's not cruel to kill them. Especially if they have invaded your home and are a potential health hazard.

They will chew through your electrical wires and other parts of your building in order to make their own nest too.

Put down poison now.

Peanut butter . It's sticky so they can't grab and run.

Poison is a no from me and town mice get immune to it too. The mice in my friends house would come out for the poison and kick the dish over in disgust if it was empty.

Scouse mice are hardcore.

Really needs to be a swivel chair for this to work

If the single mouse is pregnant a litter will be born in under 20 days, each of that litter can breed 28 days later... you may need a pied piper if you do t get it soon...

Let's hope it's not a dormouse as they're a protected species and very rare.

We have them in the loft, noisy little beggars at times but pretty harmless.

"Last night a mouse was in my kitchen .A cute little field mouse .Im not cruel so i put trap down .Its a friendly trap that catches but doesnt kill .I put trap down ,put chocolate in it .

Its a bit of a quick mover as it got choolate and escaped my friendly trap .

So set it again with sticky chocolate and toffee .

If it escapes again what can i do ?

"

Find the source of entry and block it

If they start breeding and eating through electric cables and pooing and weeing everywhere you'll be sorry

Corner and pick them up but not by the tail. Try not to get bitten and release it outside. Failing that get a humaine trap.

Iron filings mixed with peanut butter then get yourself a big horseshoe shaped magnet... Failing that mix equal amounts of baking soda and flour in a dish and leave it in the kitchen that'll kill the mousey bastard

My old cat used to bring me live mice as a gift. He had a very special miaow to tell me he had one and he would drop it beside me. So, I became quite an expert in catching them.

Firstly, and this is very important. While attempting to catch them, tuck your trousers into your socks! The little buggers will run up your leg if they are cornered .

Ideally, block them in their hidey hole if you can and don't let them out for a day or so. At least, make sure they do not have a food or water source. Then, when they are suitably hungry put out a banana skin and wait with a large plastic jug that you can hold upside down with one hand. Once, the fecker is lured out whack the jug down over the top of it and slide a magazine underneath then you can release it.

You're welcome

I've had problems with mice since January, bought a pair of traps in Wilko which already contain bait(they are not so mouse friendly though), set them up, but probably one of my neighbours caught that one. 2 weeks ago I woke up at 2am, because I heard something in a wall of my flat and finally, my little friend died a week ago.

I'm still feeling guilty I had to kill it, but with no car and living in the city I wouldn't have a chance to release it.

That's the worst part. I asked my friend for a favour to come and help me to get rid of it. He told me he's out of the city, but can come tomorrow, but he couldn't. So I had to man up and throw it away on my own. It was so small and cute and those tiny black eyes were looking at me, it made me feel even worse about it

They can be effective.

Live in the country and know how many mice we can get in garage if we don't use them.

But we still catch mice,so not totally efficient.

Our cat used to bring live mice in and release them all the bloody time sometimes 5-6 a day I corner them and suck them up the hoover and release them unharmed in the field.

We've currently got a shrew and that little shit is a master of hiding - I regularly pull out the cooker and remove the kick panel off the units but can never find the little shit! Ive filled every nook and cranny with expanding foam but it still manages to evade me

We tried humane traps last time we had one they're too tiny to trigger them and I think they're protected. We caught that one by hoover. So I think I might have to persevere with pulling the kitchen to pieces and hoping

Put down a glass bottle with food inside it, they can climb inside no problem but because of the curve shape at the neck of the bottle their feet just slide and they struggle to get back out again.

Toilet roll tube with a bit of peanut butter at the end balance it at the edge of a table/side board etc. With a deep bucket underneath. The mouse runs in gets the the peanut butter misbalences the tube falls into the bucket can’t climb out.

This is what my mum and I did when we found mice at her work

Back the car up to the closest door or window. Run a hose pipe from the exhaust to the hole in the skirting. Drill a exit hole close to the door and turn the engine on and leave running for an hour (if you have a modern car maybe give it two...this won't work if your car is electric, you will have to borrow the neighbors. Don't forget to ask). Obviously leave the door open enough for them to get out.

Go and get your nails done or an hours volunteering at a rouge croix. I think by the time you get home, your little problem will have moved out. Perhaps on the way home call in at animal rescue and get yourself a cat. In case the critters have a taste for revenge and return with back up... rocking chair on patio, shot gun, case off cartridges, jug of moonshine, cat on your lap... life's sweet.
