Best sleeping tricks...?

Manchester City Centre

When I was in High School, I struggled with sleep... especially over exam times...

But could sometimes sleep for hours and would regularly go to bed early and get up late...

After high school, I did a bit of research into relaxation techniques, and for about 15 years, I’ve never had an issue sleeping... even when stressed

Recently, I have come across some natural products to aid sleep, which I have really found to be useful...

ZMA / ZMB6 supplements (Zinc, Magnesium & Vit B6)

And a product called SLEEP-ER by Trec Nutrition which is anti anxiety and contains vitamins & minerals to aid sleep and muscle repair for athletes (also contains ZMA)

I have really noticed the difference, having really deep sleep every time I take them...

But... what do you do to help sleep?

Routine? Supplements? Sex?

Do they make you drowsy the day after?

I've given up worrying about my sleep patterns. Sometimes I'll be awake all night then the next I'll catch up and get a decent 6 or 7 hours.

Old people need less sleep.

On holiday and doing massive walks with the dog day time and then relaxing in the bath and sinking in wine in the evenings is doing me the world of good for my sleep - or might just being away from every day stresses is helping. Either way just following to see what works for everyone else. As my sleep is usually quite bad of late.

ZMA just makes you feel like you were knocked out all night... and is supposed to be really good if you have a busy lifestyle...

My mate got me onto them... you can buy them from any sports nutrition shop and online...

SLEEP-ER is similar, but also makes you feel a bit more relaxed, amd you get a bit of a buzz about 15 mind after taking it...

All are natural products...

When I swim in the evenings I fall asleep all over the place lol, but I don't have trouble falling asleep at all anyway.

If I am truly stressed, then Valerian herb will sort it.

There are some fabulous recorded 'crackling fires with rainstorms outside' on youtube, very soporific!

I'm diabetic type 2 (recently diagnosed ) and I have found out by eating a bar of chocolate late in the evening I just nod off halfway through eating it.

I stopped drinking alcohol around 5 years ago....so finding this works is like heaven.

Just don't know if it's a good thing or bad as I wake up covered in chocolate

Switch the mind off ( if possible ) I rarely remember my head hitting the pillow , I think early starts help too . If for any reason I can’t sleep I don’t worry about it too much as I know I will soon catch up !

0.6 mg Melatonin tends to do that to most people.

I have chronic fatigue syndrome so i have very poor sleep patterns and am lucky if i can manage about 5 hours a night.. occasionally its less or more but it only usually hits me mid afternoon so i have to try and fight having an afternoon nap..

I dont take anything but i do try and ensure i am relaxed in bed before bedding down to sleep

As an additional comment...

I improved my diet at 19 and stopped drinking coffee, tea, fizzy drinks and cut out too much sugar... this also had a positive effect on my sleep, as well as my energy during the day...

I only drink about 2 pints on a Saturday, and occasionally 1 or 2 on a Friday, when I’m DJing... so I think that also helps
