I'm probably talking to the wrong crowd, but do you think it's okay for a partner to flirt with someone else if you're in a relationship (monogamous or not)?

Is it just a bit of harmless fun, or is there more to it...

I’d usually reverse the question on myself and see if it would make me comfortable. If it was done in front of me it probably wouldn’t bother me, if behind my back I’d be worried. Just my opinion

It depends on the circumstances.

I'm naturally flirty, it's often not intentional. I enjoy being around flirty people so a partner of mine might be that way too.

I'd be concerned if it wasn't a normal way for them to behave and they suddenly started. Especially if it's just with one person.

I wouldn't flirt with someone else if I was in a monogamous relationship. So I definitely would not expect my partner to do it either. Friendly is fine, but once it turned to flirting, I would definitely have issues. If it was non monogamous, then I would be fine with them flirting.... They would be having sex with others after all

Would you be able to tell the difference if it was just harmless or if there was something going on?

If you did see them be flirty, would you see it as a blatant act of mistrust or nothing at all?

Probably a no-brainer, but would you openly flirt with someone if your non-monogamous partner were also around

Only if we were meeting someone together. If we were out together without that intention? No, I wouldnt. I would personally find it very disrespectful to them. They'd be the one getting my attention

In my view it would be disrespectful and grossly disloyal, so I would never do it.

somewhere in Buckinghamshire

My ex regularly had cheeky flirty banter with others in front of me, it pissed me off greatly despite his plea that it was only ever innocent.

Bastard turned out to be a lying cheating narcissistic sociopath.

Not for me. Overly flirtatious men and men who openly and brazenly gawp at other women in my presence get on my tits and are ditched.

Wirral

Gomez & I love hearing about each other’s play meets - and the messages are always via Fab so we can both be a part of the initial build up & flirting that goes on!

It depends on the dynamic of the relationship, but certainly for us it adds to it!

I’ve a good gut and it’s usually pretty spot on

So the general consensus is:

1) Definitely not if you're monogamous

2) If you're both open, preferably not in front of each other

3) A-OK if you're both going to blink the person you're flirting with
