To be honest I thought he had died a good while back as he had a stroke that retired him around 15 years back if my memory is correct.

But I agree he was a great actor in heartbeat and a good stand up comedian.

Played some great parts. Most remembered for the loveable rogue Claude Jeremiah Greengrass in Heartbeat. The Gaffer and Selwyn Froggatt and from memory, think he may have been in a couple of Carry On films
