"Northumberland God's second attempt after he realized the Garden of Eden hadn't worked out as he planned. Simply beautiful, even in winter... Downsides? The main roads are shit and some places are a long way from anywhere else. Oh, and Blyth - if Northumberland was a person Blyth is where they'd insert the enema tube...." I love Northumberland, had many holidays in the beautiful county

"Herefordshire Lovely county very pretty Not much going on, wages are rubbish around here, cost of living isn’t as cheap as a lot of other places, Wales on your doorstep Love it" Swansea-we live on Gower so it's always like being on holidays. Wages are rubbish. The people are really warm, funny and friendly and the town itself is horrible so we avoid that place as much as we can

"Cambridgeshire, flat, miserable and nowt to offer (except Peterborough and Ely cathedrals) " Dear Coquette, not selling Cambs very well. Quite flat so great for cycling. Big skies and terrific weather. It’s the ‘California ‘ of Great Britain. And, as extensive research from Sydney University has shown, the best lovers in the UK.

Wages are rubbish. We looked at the house prices when we got back and remember thinking they must be completely out of sync with the jobs in the area as they were so expensive. Ginger

"Gloucestershire ~ beautiful county, Cotswold hills to the east, Forest of Dean to the west, River Severn running through the middle. Gloucestershire has some of the prettiest villages you'll find in the UK, and the towns of Cheltenham, Gloucester and Cirencester are all quite lovely too. There are some great places to go walking and mountain biking (things we do lots of)...I love where we live! V x" You saved me a lot of typing lol

"Lincolnshire - flat, second biggest county in England, NO motorway, rubbish roads, poor transport links, low wages, no swingers club." Pretty much sums it up we have a motorway in our section of Lincs tho

The A1 may be the worst main road in England (or this universe, actually) but the moment when you come over the brow and can see Holy Island for the first time is magic.

"Yorkshire Shit cities barring York (in terms of aesthetics) but some of the finest countryside you can get." Sheffield is an excellent city and a fantastic night out it’s still evolving quickly too as the old industrial parts are being redeveloped.

"Yorkshire Shit cities barring York (in terms of aesthetics) but some of the finest countryside you can get. I've travelled to various stunning places around the world and still think parts of Yorkshire on a fine summer's day tops them all " I'm fairly new to Yorkshire and frequently catch my breath at how beautiful it is as I drive somewhere. Disagree with you about the cities though, Leeds has brilliant culture (Opera North, Northern Ballet, Grand Theatre, etc etc) and amazing shopping, bars and restaurants, Wakefield has thd Yorkshire Sculpture Park and the Hepworth (museum of the year) and even Bradford has the Alhambra.

"The edge of the earth... Vast empty beaches rolling Atlantic surf miles of coastline cliffs hills fields farms and the most achingly beautiful sunsets. Sometimes even the northern lights. Ruins castles rolling black storm clouds land of mystery dark dreams myths legends and glens with babbling rivers strange shaped rocks giants and stories that chill the mind... And yet it's miles from anywhere and living in a time that has long since gone... Yet I still miss home sometimes.."

"Staffordshire- large diverse county. Has good transport links if the M6 is clear. Beautiful countryside and I live on the edge of a large AOUNB so lots of outdoors pursuits available. But close enough to big towns and cities. Cost of living isn’t too bad but also some areas of deprivation. X "

In the middle of the country so close or good links to everywhere. Frank is from Shropshire & it’s growing on me - far more open space but feels like it needs to catch up with everywhere else!!
