If you can find it the 80's BBC series 'Edge of Darkness ' is very, very good.

Very dark and lots of spy'esque intruige.

Is that the one with the Clapton music?

Agree it is very good. If I remember correctly it was shown then repeated about a month later by popular demand

Game of Thrones , Breaking Bad, Dexter, I Zombie and definitely Peaky Blinders. Oh and forgot the wife loved Spartacus all those hot sweaty gladiators and lots of sex scenes
