If a guys profile or status says discreet, would you say that he is probably married or attached?

If not why be discreet, not like we are doing anything illegal is it?

Some people work in organisations whereby their contract of employment can be terminated if they are found guilty of bringing the organisation into disrepute. Swinging could be seen as falling within this parameter. That’s a reason to be discreet.

No I wouldn't. We like people to be discreet, we've had far too many socials with men who can't keep their voice down in public. If a guy says he's discreet it's a bonus.

Family, children, neighbours....not everyone is comfortable telling the world they swing.

Why do most profile avatars not have face pictures? (Including the Ops).

Swinging is seen as disgusting. Many people wouldn't want anyone knowing their private lives.

Having sex can't get you sacked from most jobs. We see it as a profile /, message (or lack of) filler, the same as 'genuine'.

I cant speak for everyone but in my case its there to indicate, that I'm not the type that would go round telling everyone that's willing to listen what I've been up to and with whom.

for me, it depends..if they sound like a relatively compos mentis human, and they say 'discreet', then i assume they are a discreet person..if however they say 'discrete', coupled with 'honest', and or 'nawty', , and just for good measure 'discrete' at least 3 times more in a 2 line profile then yes, they are married.

my pet theory , and im yet to be proved wrong.

discreet means has manners in a pub /hotel bar and dosent make things obvious to others what the evening might entail.

likewise if going to someones house park up the road and walk down to the house , checking no neighbours are about

things like that is being discreet for me .

Actually it can get you sacked...I have a disrepute clause in my contract and it has been used by my employer on another member of staff... following is an extract from a legal website

Sexual misconduct

A common type of conduct which has been considered as bringing the company into disrepute is sexual conduct. For example, a professional footballer who was caught having an affair which was subsequently reported in the newspapers was deemed to have brought his club into disrepute as this occurred while abroad representing the club on a foreign tour. However, mere disapproval of an employee’s conduct outside of work will not be sufficient to successfully discipline or remove an employee on the basis of bringing the employer into disrepute.

In a 2003 case, the European Court of Human Rights found in favour of the employer where a probation officer was dismissed after he was alleged to have been involved in sado-masochistic sexual activities. He argued that his dismissal breached his privacy rights under the European Convention of Human Rights. However, the ECHR held that the interference with his Article 8 rights was justified given the nature of his work, and the fact he worked with sex offenders.

In a further example, a primary school teacher had posed for photographs which were featured on a website for glamour models. Her conduct was held to have brought her employer into disrepute considering her role within the school. The teacher was subject to disciplinary proceedings but was not fired. However, it was stated that she would have been fired if the website was pornographic.

What’s clear is that each case law will be treated on its own merits. The actual conduct by the employee must be taken into consideration alongside the specific role the employee is employed to do.

If you have such a clause it may or may not be able to be used by your employer but how many of us want to take the chance of losing our jobs in such a way?

It may mean many things - including that he thinks he may improve his chances, thinking that others might see it as desirable.

Cheating people will usually want it but look for other clues.

Surely those people proclaiming everyone seeking discretion has something to hide, are being ever so slightly hypocritical if they're hiding their faces on their profiles?

It's a choice, but a wise choice for everyone in my opinion. I don't wish my sexual activities to be public and I'm not particularly interested in yours either.

By that logic every female profile that says discreet or asks for discretion is married or attached?

I never believe anyone who claims openly on here to be in certain types of profession, they're much too vulnerable to finding themselves in the position you were in. "Concerned" colleagues etc. I hope you established yourself elsewhere.

OP...I'd say that he's probably someone you could trust not to talk about you or your meetsto his mates or others on fab. Discrete means exactly that, someone with decorum and sensitive with personal information. Like anything on here though people can interpret anything to suit what they're either looking for or not looking for.

I'd try to interpret what people say as they say it otherwise what is the point of any profile descriptions or preferences.

This is a bit extreme but if I were to assume those who said curvy as actually being fat would I be wrong or am I just wrongly interpreting what they put down?

The words discrete and discreet share the same origin (from the Latin discretus, meaning ‘separate’), are pronounced the same way, but have different meanings. Discrete stays true to its Latin origins and means ‘individually separate and distinct . So there you go

Discrete* should be Discreet

They both have same Latin origin. The former meaning separate or detached ironically.. the later being careful guarded or cautious in action and speach.
