The Wink, so what!

The wink system,

Does anyone think its a useful feature?

Would it just be easier to mail someone?

Get to the point?

Most people ignore it, if they had a feature which disables people from winking you permanantly.

Would you use it?

Your thoughts.

I always assumed a wink was kinda saying “ hello, you interest me. I’d like to know more about you” but without typing the same message over and over.

We rarely initiate contact with a wink but don’t mind if others do so with us. If we are interested in them we wink back and they generally respond with a message and we take it from there...

Don’t really understand why folks always complain on here about how people contact them. They either don’t like being winked at, messages are too long, messages are too short, messages don’t contain the magic code word in their profile, etc etc. Just be flattered if somebody respectfully contacts you. One doesn’t have to respond back.

We love a little wink every now and then. Use it as a first point of contact. Wink someone and if the wink back send a message, but if they don’t then you know not to bother them again. It can be disheartening sending a message only to have it deleted, where as a wink with no response doesn’t make you feel so bad

I always understood it that if someone winked at you and you winked back then that was an invitation for them to follow it up with a message..

But also if someone winks and you dont wink back(because they are not what you are looking for) then nothing happens

But since my return there have been lots of followup messages from ignored winks, so i have to tell them im not interested rather than just ignoring than just ignoring them...

We wink to show we may be interested and if they wink back after looking and reading our profile then we mail them . Our view it gives them the option to view our profile ,see we are interested in chatting , if they do not wink back they are not interested

Pretty much pointless... I ignore winks unless its to do with a forum thread.

It's quoted lazy by those who get a lot of mail and responses. For those who don't it saves a hell of a lot of 1st messages that juat get deleted. All tools are here to use as each person sees fit. What one does, another doesn't for personal reasons

not the first time it has worked..obviously nobody chooses to shag someone over a wink ffs.It can be used as a small gesture to lead to conversation..simple.

Personally I think a lot of profiles are taking things far too seriously...just like a message,if you dont like it dont message back, or in this case dont wink back.

not that bloody difficult

We don't mind winks in theory, and will return the compliment if the profile warrants it. However usually the wink is from a blank profile.

If we do wink back we'll either then get a friends request (which we make clear we don't accept) or a 'how's u' type message.

I like the wink option!

I understand it as ~

I like what I see, have a nose at my profile...if you like what you see, wink back and I'll initiate convo!

If no wink comes back then it's taken as a hint - not to bother with message!

Saves on typing out the same thing over and over!

As a couple, winks work really well for us! It's a little step towards saying we like you, what do you think? No response is a totally acceptable, no offence taken, no thanks. If we get a wink back, we send a message and take it from there
