Tattoos - what’s your opinion

Been thinking about getting some more done and I’m pretty sure I know what I want to do next.

I’m just wondering if people still think hand/knuckle tattooes are still a bit taboo?

Society’s opinion has come a long way on tattoos as a whole but are certain body areas still not quite there?

Depends on what you do for a living.

Agreed, although I do find it odd though, a brain surgeons sleeve tattoo or hand tattoo doesn’t effect his ability to save your life.

Likewise!

I’m thinking of a skull mask on my left hand this time.

It makes no difference to me where a tattoo is, but a friend of mine who has a 3/4 sleeve wouldn’t go down onto their hands...

True. He's also easily employable.

I work in a school they have no issues about piercings but my wrist tattoo needs to be covered... wouldn’t have thought a black widow spider was that intrusive..... no explanation just would prefer if visable tatts could be covered

It shouldn't matter at all - but you are correct in that many employers still frown upon tatoos in vertain visible places. Your choice but you are wise enough to know the possible consequences and restrictions

I think they are still taboo and personally as much as I love them it would really not go down well at work so as others have said it depends what you do for a living and what you think the impact would be

I’m lucky that nobody bats an eyelid where I work

The only restrictions are the usual things health & safety wise regarding piercings etc

A girl at work has got several hand tattoos and no one bats an eyelid, over the years she's had a number of customer facing jobs and never had a problem and now in the civil service it's quite normal to see tattoos and piercings on a daily basis, including one man that has loads of face piercings.

Isn't it agony on hands? Rather you than me.

Leeds + Newcastle

Covered in them and my industry are largely cool with them BUT I'd never get 'public skin's done such as hands neck or chest

It’s all painful if you sit there for long enough

Love men covered in them

I understand your point on society and the taboo though and I find it ridiculous. If someone were in a car accident and the paramedic on the scene had a couple of sleeves, I’m not sure anyone would be saying “no, wait, stop! I see you have tattoos, I will wait for the next ambulance”.

.

I absolutely love them but yes, visible tattoos in certain areas are still taboo.

In my current job they are (wrongly but often) looked down upon - they are seen as not fitting the certain image the industry wants to portray.

My gynaecological surgeon had a full sleeve tattoo and that was 20 years ago, very much frowned upon then but he saved my life.

Personally I love a good tattoo.

all depends on which country you live in,

in some society's its a way of life past down from generation to generation (Hawaii)

I have a close neighbour who is high up in banking, used to boast that he would not employ anyone with a tattoo

guess what, his son rebelled, got tattoo's and left home as soon as he could.

If you are getting a tattoo, do it for yourself, your choice, your design, don't give 2 F*cks about anyone else
