"I believe religion exists because I can see the evidence. I don't follow one, I was put off that by my childhood experiences What evidence? Churches and congregations. " Why the sad face. I'm not saying I believe in god just that its clear that religion exists because society has decided to agree tacitly that it does and has created a whole hierarchy of priests, buildings etc to back it up.

"Secularism claims to be rational - yet is not. " Maybe you mean atheism. Secularism means government should not contain religion, not that there should be no religion for anyone. Plenty of religious people are secularists because they recognise that religion should be personal, not for telling others what to do. And that is entirely rational.

"There's zero evidence for a God that exists outside human minds, concerns itself with what humans do and can intervene in the world. Hence I conclude such a being does not exist. However, clearly the idea of God does exist within human minds and is a powerful motivatiing force to many people. " I would argue that god does exist in the way it was originally written down. God is just another way at looking at consciousness. You talk to god is you talking to yourself. Ancient Hebrew is so hard to translate because it uses math. Loads cannot be understood and that which can, is madness anyway because they were tripping. I don't believe in the god floating on a cloud judging folk. But I do believe that the original writers were on to the same thing shamen were doing in Brazil and Peru

"Personally I was brought up C of E....obviously, and I appreciate religion offers a lot of people in the world comfort, hope and belonging. Personally...I'm not a big fan...through History and Beyond Organised Religions have been the source, the cause and the excuse for a lot of horrible inexcusable things that have happened in the world, I'm all for peace & love regardless " Jesus is not into religion?!! Can't say i'm surprised really

"I'm a freethinker, or aim to be. I don't believe in religion - but believe it exists for the purpose of social cohesion. I don't believe in atheism - because I consider people like Dawkins to be co-religionists to the Christians they claim to be oppositional to. There are too many similarities for it to be chance. If you are talking about whether there is a Creator - then I am agnostic, otherwise I hold religion and secularism as both being suspect. Religion claims to be moral - yet is not, Secularism claims to be rational - yet is not. This may make me sound disagreeable, or high and mighty - but really I'm just saying I don't think anybody's found the One True Path because it doesn't exist. What we have instead is an ecology, whether we think we part of it or not we are affected by it. The only question then is "what is best", and evidently it is possible for any idealogy to have 'bad modes', 'good modes' and 'failure modes'. If we believe in civilization aka organization as being a moral and rational objective - which I do - then it means we should optimize as best we are able instead of searching for an ultimate solution to everything. I think we know that joining cannibal biker gangs is a bad thing, and that developing technology that saves on energy bills is a good thing. The good news is that in my philosophy if you happen to be wrong, you ultimately get offed since the buck finally stops with natural selection. " We would get on like a house on fire....

"Or are most swingers agnostic or atheist because more religious folk would think we are immoral. " I believe in some sort of religion , albeit not any specific one . I’m not ashamed to admit that there have been times that this belief has helped me , in much the same way it has for so many other believers over the generations . I accept that organised religion is responsible for much of the war and strife too . I also accept it can’t be proven , but as I recall from a recent film I watched , it can’t be disproven either .

Lots of people were around that time. Given that there is zero proper evidence that anyone has ever risen from the dead and given that the stories that Jesus did were written many years later by non eye witnesses, it's vanishingly unlikely the resurrection happened.

We have prayed with and engaged spiritually with other Christian swingers." Now I would pay to see that............

"Religion is based on some higher being a god or diety who demands to be adored and worshipped. I read this an article this evening that the Hubble space telescope has captured evidence of two galaxies colliding at a distance of 320 million light years from Mother Earth. Now for those who have faith this celestial event maybe their god having a massive fart. However I somehow doubt it. Religion is the opium of the masses. It dulls reasoned and intellectual thought. It causes human kind to undertake inhuman acts in its name. So I am forming a religion where everyone has to wear yellow socks eat marmite sandwiches and dye your hair green. It really is absurd as that. As for the Christian swingers what happened to thou shalt not shag thy neighbours wife?" Prove it's not a fart

Lots of people were around that time. Given that there is zero proper evidence that anyone has ever risen from the dead and given that the stories that Jesus did were written many years later by non eye witnesses, it's vanishingly unlikely the resurrection happened. " People have been declared dead when they weren't. Many such cases where people have been found still breathing in the morgue.

" I agree with you there!

None of the major religions condone sex outside of some kind of commitment.
