I like how you think hehe

Although being in 2018 now you’d think equality should already be there!!

All for all these lets celebrate gender.sexual orientation. Colour. Days etc

But why celebrate something that in our modern times should be a given .Fear to say it but if we going to celebrate these days how come no white man day.are we now not practising a form of reverse discrimination. Which these day celebrates ending

Just my opinion on these celebrate normal life days

The reason there is no white man day us because every other day is white man day.... That's the whole damn point!

We have these days to celebrate other genders/races etc and their achievements because fir so long they gave been over looked and under appreciated. In some cases they have been misappropriated or stolen by 'the man' because there could be no way a woman or a black person etc could have achieved it, they would not be taken seriously. A lot of scientific discoveries were made by women but claimed by men.

Fair point but maybe because I was raised by a single mother who worked her bones off to become a successful business woman and didn't see any barriers to achieve her goal and taught me that no matter the colour.orientation and gender of a person we all bleed red and are all equal that no one Is above another

Nothing wrong with being proud of who you are... there's a difference in being proud based on you're character or achievements than to look on you're skin colour and think I'm proud of that.. you're proud of something that you naturally had nothing to do with..

The clue is in the title 'International Women's Day'. You do realise some women have shit lives that you could only have nightmares about. Think about that from your white man position.

I’m all for celebrating the entirely awesome, arse-kicking women we are, were, will be, know and raise, and the equally excellent men and those who identify as any other gender or gender fluidity, who listen to, support, love, stand up for, understand and learn with us, hold our hands, and bring us cups of tea. Because we're all in this together, and without you guys being a woman wouldn’t just be impossible, it’d be considerably less fun!

Good for you, blue peter badge in the post

International woman's day isn't just about becoming a successful woman, it's about women overcoming all manner of adversity and if you think that this is just a celebration of past glories and that things are equal now might I suggest you are incredibly naive.

It's great that your mother taught you the things she did and that she worked hard to provide for her family and build a successful career. A lot of women in this workd are not fortunate to have that opportunity.

think ill leave you to your trip trapping. Its a shame you couldn't let a positive thread run without coming on and causing arguments. Maybe start your own thread questioning the validity of days (and there are lots of them.... Including one for men) celebrating and recognising diversity.

Think about random famous people you are aware of. Then consider how many of them are white men.

That's why we don't need an international white man's day.

And I think lots of people on the thread are missing the point. We should be celebrating or recognising the efforts of women. They've been oppressed and still are. The only impact days like this will have on men are positive anyway. I love the thought of my sisters and nieces being treated as they should be: equals. Like those who oppose black lives matter saying "all lives matter": yes we know all lives matter dummie but we are addressing something specific

Or in 100s of years the roles reverse and we have to celebrate international men's day because women have beaten us down. Men having to fight for their vote and not be treated like a commodity. Eventually getting a day, only for women to wade in and say "eh, what about international women's day?". And we're like: it's been international women's day for the last 400 years ya bastard!

Stop attacking people just because you have a different view.

Now I am going to leave this thread open for you to slug it out ( it is a shame that adults can't debate like adults ) but if someone wants to start another thread to celebrate women I will make sure that one stays just that.

For anyone else, keep to this thread if you want to debate it

There is already an International Men's Day - 19th November. A day to be celebrated as well. What we need is an International Mysoginist Day. So all those hard done by men can fist bump each other, rub cocks and slag Pankhurst and her crew off.
