Wife swapping @ 7 years

After 7 years of marriage, it's now in trouble, so what better thing to do than swap with other couples Well, the couples swap partners and live together on a Thai island.

The new TV series starts tonight at 9.15 on Channel 4. 4 couples in trouble get swapped - I assume they get a free 'holiday' out of it, so anyone wanting something similar for the next season, consider signing up

They live in a villa, with just one bedroom - so there's pressure on to sleep together in the same bed, whilst together for a couple of weeks.

One of the couples has Rachel, in York - she is 'exasperated with her manchild partner Tom, who, in his spare time, can be found dangling on the zipwire at the local kids’ park'.

Going to watch?

I think this TV show is building on the old Wife Swap show, where completely polar opposites of people were split and placed with half of the other couple.

This show places them in a gorgeous setting, time on their hands and just one bed - whilst knowing that each of the couples is contemplating splitting up, as they're unhappy with the relationship. Will any of them shag? I'm sure there'll be jealousy and suspicions.

Leicester guy George seems Neanderthal - expecting wife to have food on the table and do all the woman's things

Also, he's aggressive towards her

I think it's designed to put them in a place without cares, lots of time with someone... sharing a bed - it could lead anywhere.

A day is hell, even. And they don't all seem like ideal partners.

How quickly will they all be sharing the same bed? I'm thinking the Leicester guy is more thinking it's wrong for his wife Michelle to be sharing with another guy.

Why are they placing the men in the villas first, creating a masculine territorial thing and then forcing an issue about whether they 'give up' the bed to the woman?

They're even captioning the villas with the man's name.

It's annoying me.

"Love the rugby fella.

I agree - the rugby bloke is my pick too - the others are pretty awful for anything. The York guy, Tom?, is the manchild who can't grow up.

Tony, a bit unpleasant. George too, the old fashioned relationships and woman's role expectations guy

"Tony is a little baby trying to control Gemma by turning it around!!!

There's him and possibly the other couple of guys who need to revise how they live and relate to their partners.

The rugby bloke I am more lenient with, as he's fanciable - but he doesn't seem to have much affection and interaction with his wife and has become a bit too rigid.

Tony doesn't seem worthy of his partner: he wouldn't marry her, changing his mind at the last minute, apart from his current behaviour. A pig.

I so hope she learns to stand up for herself a little and not let him dictate what's happening all the time, then if he still wants his freedom let him have it.

I can understand if they've been together since being young,he hasn't had that sowing his seeds time so to speak, but he need's to decide what he wants and stop messing his poor wife about.

They need to swing

I might go back and see the US show again.

I've been hard on Tony and the Leicester guy but we're only shown a few minutes on each plus I'm biased. The lovely rugby guy needs to start putting his partners needs on a level with his own, she's been downgraded.

Thanks for the headsup - I'll get it on catch-up. I'm guessing the not so fantastic psychotherapist was on a lot, if it was grim.

Tears before the attractions between the swapped couples take hold next week perhaps?

Is Tony the dark haired guy who wouldn't marry his partner? I feel the same, it's tough to warm to him.

I was glad that the woman sharing the villa with him tonight actually stood up to him and stood her ground, rather than becoming silenced.
