We come across myriad profiles where people describe themselves as "athletic". One glance at the pics and we find that this is not the case at all, is it me or has the word taken on a whole new meaning?

People just don't understand what athletic means. I see most of the slim people on here as average.

Average is someone that is not fat but not toned. So you could call them slim but not toned.

I describe myself as athletic because i don't consider myself to be average in terms of physique, but why should we waste time with semantics? Shouldn’t matter what anyone calls themselves.

Would a regular marathon runner be athletic or slim?

I can’t decide between athletic (works out 3-4times a week in the gym) or average, it really shouldn’t matter one single bit, celebrate your bodies everyone

Interesting

I do look at what people list as the "body type" but more out of curiosity than anything. TBF - we like to see a few full length pics and decide from there. For us it's not about which category you fit in but whether we like the look of the pics or Not!

Not much, and you are more slender than the 'visual type' you claim to belong to, in my opinion. You look like you could run for a bus but not sure you'd be able to lift much weight.

"I agree with oreo being athletic but do you not think I'm toned enough to be athletic? I always thought I was, but I did make this when my abs werw clearly visable.

Sorry, but I would consider slim to be a more accurate description of your body shape. I would describe distance runners as slim although they are athletic in habit.

I really don't care how people choose to describe themselves, as long as they have decent body photos... you do.

"XY is athletic as he is lean which shows his muscle tone. He doesn't really like describing himself as such though

XX is average - neither slim nor larger and not lean enough to show her muscle tone

Why doesn't he like that description?

I think it's because he sees himself as y and he thinks others may expect the term athletic to mean built-like-Arnie"

He's not scrawny at all.
