No not a spelling mistake...

Middle aged men in lycra.

Should we give it up? Are they groutesque? Let's settle this once and for all so I know if I should buy a commuting bike and stop pretending!!

As with any body in lycra, it depends on the body in the lycra.

I don’t think i’ve ever seen a man standing up dressed in Lycra. They’ve always been huddled over their bike which tends to obscure the view. Sadly.

Nooo there's no need to have that...a bike kind of requires it....my excuse anyway?

When I was still working a proper job, we got issued with wicking, cycling type shirts for wear under other gear. It was quite close fitting, and I remember remarking that we looked like a string of badly filled sausages...

I make a bigger dent when someone tries to hit me...

Although it is surprising how invisible a 6'1" Power Ranger on a 1200 Tourer can be when viewed behind a steering wheel. Too many near misses and far too many direct hits for my liking!

We film our trip and the boys are all very good humoured and rip the piss out of their manly, lycra clad bodies amongst themselves and me as support. I certainly have zero room to talk about lumps and bumps... if I cycle I wear lycra (hidden under a layer of something else cause even I don’t want to see that!)

We have an epic time and they’re all getting out there and doing it. I have nothing but respect for that! No-one should ever be made to feel shame for doing some good old fashioned exercise wearing the clothing that’s most appropriate.

Shouldn’t need saying.

Not quite at the middle age stage yet, I think..?

But love my skinsuit for cycling, it just feels fast!

And if anyone isn't a fan, well I'm not too fussed as they're usually too far behind for me to hear them

To keep fit indicates the person was fit to start with , and in my experience very few mamils were ever fit as in , ‘ wow he or she is fit as fuck ‘ .

More like ‘ oh ffs , look at the state of that ‘ , so I’m not shaming anyone who wants to keep fit that was fit . No middle aged person who wanted to look fit would wear Lycra , and I have no time for anyone who thinks otherwise

I think we are missing the point here .

I don’t think anyone middle aged looks fit wearing tight Lycra . And that’s the kind of fit I mean , not fit as in healthy .....

I don't mind seeing a guy in Lycra, it's practical for certain sports. As long as he doesn't look like a Pillsbury Doughman.
