I spent a blissful half an hour watching competitive blacksmithing at the Royal Berks country show a couple of years back. Fire, sweat, soot, the sound of metal on metal and big, big arms. (Simple pleasures).

Smithing is hard work takes a lot of Stamina. You have to be hard yet sometimes gently and precise with your blow of the hammer, as you rotate and control your tools against that red hot piece you're pounding.
