UPDATE...UPDATE...UPDATE... UPDATE...

NEW DATE... NEW DATE... NEW DATE...

FAB CRAP RUNNERS' CLUB SOCIAL!!!!!!!

We are having a Fab Crap Runners' Club social at the end of week nine. Everyone is welcome (runners, coaches and supporters).

NEW Date:

Saturday 17th March at 9am (meet from 8.30am)

Venue:

Great Denham parkrun http://www.parkrun.org.uk/greatdenham/

Followed by:

Coffee, cake and gossip at about 10am at Brewers' Fayre, Marsh Leys, MK42 7FY

What to do:

Put the date in your diary and register for free with parkrun on the link above. I'll figure out the finer details ASAP.

RSVP:

Please let me know on this thread if you're intending to come along.

But, but, but:

I know - it's bloody terrifying! Running with actual runners at an actual event! But you have options.

(i) I will do the course with the slowest person in our group (and may well be the slowest person come to think of it). If we need to walk the whole thing, that's what we'll do. So no one in our group will be last - the slowest two of us will cross the line together.

(ii) I'll come up with a way of us identifying each other that doesn't "out" us as Fab-folk. I won't carry a giant sign that says "Swingers Assemble Here".

(iii) If you don't want to do the course or you're not ready for it, my other-half will be hobbling around on an ongoing knee-injury at the finishing line and will gladly stand with you and chat away about all sorts of rubbish.

(iv) Or, if you have any sense at all, you'll feign injury and just meet us in the pub afterwards.

My second run of the week on Wednesday was fucked up by the icy cold and the wind. Slippery and snowy pavements meant that I only walked on Friday so if it’s all thawed I’m running for 30 minutes again tomorrow

Yay, we’ll done!

It doesn’t really matter what stage you’re at now, in fact the mismatch is just great for fucking up Mrs Trellis’ spreadsheet so some of us just do it on purpose

Fell off the waggon this week, all good intentions got thrown out the window due to my state of mind and obviously the snow

Hoping to get back on it next week as i doubt ill want to after a 12 hour shift tomorrow.

Quick Question: although not as good as actually going out, but would jogging on the spot be benificial when i cant get out or just a waste of time?

I guess anything that gets your heart going has some benefit.

Did you watch that documentary (on BBC iplayer) The Truth About Exercise. That gave a five-minute highly intensity thing you could do inside.

Hey Peeps

TIME TO RUN AGAIN!!! HERE’S A CHALLENGE...!

It sounds like several of us have missed runs due to the weather.

Getting back to it is hard so we need to grit our teeth and get on with it! We've come too far to let it slide.

Today is Sunday and the snow is melting. I’ll update my FCRC spreadsheet this evening so there’s time to do a run and post about it and I’ll add it to the Week Ten thread tonight.

YOU HAVE 15 HOURS TO DO SOME EXERCISE!!!!

(Not 15 hours OF exercise obviously; we’re not insane!).

I’m gonna force myself out. Who’s with me?!

Still deep snow and ice underfoot here this mornmorning so I'll be doing a 2+ hour bike ride on my trainer, hopefully will get back out running tomorrow.

If your running today take it easy and stay safe

So far that’s me and ManMonkey exercising today. Who else?

Snow started melting this way yesterday, so I knew I had a date with my trainers in the morning.

Wasn't sure which run to do as haven't been out for almost, a week. So took a step back and did week 8, run 2 again this morning.

Surprisingly I did 6.2km in 28 minutes

So I started talking on the last thread and then forgot to come back to it.

I'm apparently training for the Manchester marathon which is less than 5 weeks away now.

My training has not gone to plan at all. Due to injury/sickness and a million other things.

The weather this week's has left me with no chance of getting out. There is still a load of snow and ice about. So instead I've signed up to a gun so I can use the treadmill.

This mornings run is going to be tough going!

And so you should be...your only competition is with yourself (should you choose to be competitive). Distance, as my esteemed fellow coach Mr.Goodtimes has said, is the first aim...speed is the next (again should you choose).

Just because they don’t feel sore, doesn’t mean they aren’t repairing each other through normal regrowth. All exercise induces microtears as the muscle fibres move against each other. Exercise has to be at a certain level of intensity for this to be felt by the individual and we are all different. Rest days are good for you, whether you perceive muscle tiredness or not.

Snow is wonderful, especially on country tracks. Ice on pavements and Roads is a lot less fun. But definitely agree about the trainers!
