Minimum profile text

Do you think there should be a minimum amount of words allowed on profiles? On some sites you have to add at least say 100 words before your profile goes live.

Would that help with the 'fill in' later types?

I agree and the same with first time messages to someone. Although easy to get round by just pressing same buttons to bulk them out. Might make some make more effort. We don't entertain those that haven't. G

No I don't think so. If people can't be arsed in writing a few word's so I can get a feel for them, well then I can't be bothered meeting them. I don’t want to be pulling teeth with people.

True. It's kind of a built in filter, isn't it?

I have 27 in mine plus 7 in the title. That’s enough for me to say what I want.

No. It's quicker to read 'Fill in later' once, than to read it several times.

There and to the left a bit

I can see the idea OP but as others have said allowing minimal text is a great filter that allows you to see just how much effort the profile owner is willing to put in

I'm not sure it would though - they'd just meet the minimum word count requirement with some inane drivel and still be here

I like people to show their true colours, it makes it a little easier to decide who you're likely to be compatible with.

Your profile won’t be live under this rule

True, but it can take mire than profile text to see through it?

The discerning sorts are well versed in what's going to be appealing and write it accordingly? Though clues may be evident.

Though sometimes a sparse profile is no indication. Have I just stated the obvious again?

No, members are entitled to put what they want in their profile text.

Help the 'fill in later types' in what regard?

, possibly. We work with what we have.

Our profile is shortish. It's the product of experience and no more people read it now than when it was longer

I know, I'm shit at profiles. This is what made me ask the question.

I left the site with the minimum word count because I couldn't think what to say and it felt like too much pressure.

I agree that leaving it open to 1 or 10,000 words makes it easier to use as a filter.

I'm a listener not a talker.

No. I quite like that I don't have to put too much effort in if I don't feel like it. I think there should be a word maximum though.

My current profile text isn't profi 100 words but it gets the job done.

Guys just need to be aware that "Will fill in later" won't get ladies to fill them in earlier (poor excuse of a pun hahaha)

Slough Windsor ish

That bloody legal warning should trigger something that makes the acount shut down.

Just had a lovely message, went to view the profile and "oh this looks intersting, 4 paragraphs, good effort" read on, finish first paragraph and.... the rest is a bollocking legal disclaimer. Twonks!

Worse, naive lemming like twonks!

I don’t mind that some profiles have no writing. I use it as a filter and delete their message/ don’t message.

If you haven’t put effort into a profile you probably won’t put effort in where it counts

Exactly. We instantly bin and block when we get messages from men who are too lazy to even sort their profile.

It takes literally minutes. But if they can't be bothered to do that they're probably going to be total shit in the hotel room.

I disagree. If you see a profile of someone who has nothing to say then it helps you filter them out.

Ah, of course. Should know that as my car number-plate ends in FAF! Might explain why people keep nodding to me at pedestrian crossings...
