I have managed to get in every day this week but as we only got 1/2 a day of snow and it was completely gone by lunchtime I don’t think the struggle was real

I doubt you will either. I was ferrying the nurse round the area last night in my much maligned (on here) SUV. The RAF are out from Wittering doing the same.

They do have them when staff simply can't get in due to such conditions, then policies etc come in to maintain cover..

My father is a ambulance driver that is contracted to nhs and he has been in every day this week

I have worked from home all day on Thursday, and half days the and wed

It is ok today so on way now

Schools closed here, not going to work,it's a non-essential occupation and it would be stupid and irresponsible as a parent to put my life at risk over it.

Im a farmer and cannot do alot of work but the local police must have rang me a dozen times recently to pull out cars which have gone off the roads. I expect the same today.

It all depends on who can / can’t work from home and how essential their job is.

It might be very virtuous to say ‘hey, I battled my way through blizzard conditions to get here’ but I expect all those people stuck overnight on the M62 felt equally virtuous yesterday.

Some vocations are more critical in this weather than others, the emergency services or care providers etc.

By blocking up the roads with unnecessary travel all you’re doing is making their jobs harder!

I am lucky in that I can work effectively from home. So today I’m going to do just that. I don’t want to be another vehicle on the road causing unnecessary congestion when there’s no need for me to be there.

Then hopefully those that DO need to be out and about can be!

I start at 5. I'm pretty sure they'll still want me to go in. I mean, it's essential that we remain open for those people who simply can't be arsed to cook at home and insist on heading out. Only a few of the staff got stranded last night and had to walk home ....

My office has taken the sensible route and closed for the day. They have staff that can working remotely. I won't be adding to the abandoned vehicles and making extra work for the emergency services. Our local hospital has put out a request for people with 4x4s who feel confident to drive in current conditions to help out. That's how they keep going.

Weather was due to get pretty bad around here yesterday afternoon and it did. Getting home was a bit dicey. 7miles of country roads, often single lane and no main road alternative route... I'm staying put today. It was 7 years since it snowed here. I'm going to go sledging and snow man making with my son and we'll muck in to help clear paths in the village. Lucky enough to be my own boss and no one is dependent on me so will just enjoy.

If you have to venture out...be careful and stay safe

I woke up to no heating... I've been defrosting a pipe and drying out the inside of the boiler this morning. Off to the merchants to get some bits so it looks like I'm working on my own place this morning!

I know, I worked in the NHS for over 30 years and unless someone was completely snowed in and it was dangerous, we turned up for work. Only planned care was suspended. Lots of us would simply bunk down in accommodation so we could continue with our work.

I'm already on annual leave. I did do an 8 hour overnighter on the M11 and A1 in horrific conditions to get VS back for work yesterday and today though, so I've done my stint

My office sent out a message that some of our non-smog offices are closed today.

I have had to work in office as had 3 meetings to schedule and my laptop wouldn’t connect. My clients laptop is working ok but main laptop for meetings hasn’t .

Tbh I am only one in team in, and boss is on holiday.

Oh well another day of not being overly productive but saying that I have a shed load to catch up on

We used to have a policy where if it was bad we would stay overnight too, even used to get a meal allowance from petty cash..

Dad’s old company used to say no to new patient pickup more than 20 miles from the hospital. His new company are not as thoughtful about the drivers

My calls are cancelled, so been out on foot checking on elderly neighbours. If you have any please make sure you do have enough same, make sure they are warm and have hot drinks xx

We're clear of the white stuff up here in Hull. Generally, the city is running normally with some exceptions.

I'm at home on my holidays, planned weeks ago; downside is central heating is broken but I'm coping really well even if the house is as cold as outside!

I work in a hotel, we're open 24/7, no snow days for us even when the place is falling down round us.

I'm lucky not to drive and to only live a fifteen minute walk from work. One of my managers lives 45 miles away, he got in on Wednesday but gave up and turned back home yesterday.
