I'm baking some more bread as Friday's was nice. Who wants a slice, slathered in butter?

I'm also making my first ever sponge cake - this could be good or a complete disaster... It's going to have strawberry jam and Ms Blue is bringing down some cream to put in the filling. Who wants to be a guinea pig? (squeak squeak)

Sussex countryside

Today I have made dairy free breakfast muffins and some cheesy biscuits.

Good luck with the sponge cake, easy once you know how x

My aging oven is a challenge, it runs cooler than the dial says. Bread I've nailed, cake might take longer!

Hubby makes the best sponge cakes in the microwave, don't know how he does it, but I think that's cheating!

Cookies and fruit loaf made this morning with the kids

Stockport

Can't bake. Used to love baking with my mum when I was little, licking the spoon clean of the cake mixture was the best

Daughter and I are baking shortbread today. It's something I've never done before so we'll see how it comes out...

Good luck with your shortbread.

Oddly I have one half of the sponge that has come out near perfect but the other has fallen apart. Grrr.

Perfect sponge mix and has never failed:

Weigh the eggs you wish to use. Weigh out the flour, marg and sugar to the same weight that the eggs were and mix well. Add the beaten egg, fold in and bake. Simples!

Three sponges later and I've nailed it. Made some nice cheese scones earlier this week, going to try some easy biscuits tomorrow.

I might treat any future meets we have to something more than just the obvious
