I looked at my hedge and thought about trimming it.

Same with the grass in the back garden.

Not really, in order to avoid disturbing nesting birds hedges should not be cut from the end of February to mid June. Our feathered friends need all the help they can get.

For best results cut hedges in June and again in October/November. Sorry.
