As a meat lover, I can’t comprehend how vegetarians get all their nutritions from vegetables.. if I eat vegetables I will be in the kitchen half hour later munching.. and I get scared when I think about vegans with a plate of ice for dinner, lunch and breakfast

Let’s hear it from the vegetarians and vegans of fab

I get over a 100 quids worth of meat from the butcher every month.... end of the month its all gone...... what are these vegetable things you talk about.... oh also take vitamins

What kind of nutrition are you talking about? They are going to be getting way more vits and anti-oxidants that your average carnivore, plenty of minerals and carbs (depending on which veg you eat) and with the inclusion of nuts, pulses, beans and seeds, plenty of good fats and protein too.

Plus stuff like quorn and tofu make getting the protein in really easy. It's a very healthy diet really.

I'd be more concerned about where someone who has a diet high in animal products, is getting their 'nutritions' from tbh.

Not sure I see the point in vitamins and supplements, when you can eat real food

Vegetarians here, mr is a 6ft plus powerhouse with a very physical job! There are better ways to get protein than eating meat!

Hm. When I first became a vegetarian I was hungry a lot of the time. But it's not that hard to figure out how to eat well and be fulfilled on a vegetarian diet. Lentils, beans, nuts, veg, etc.

I've met plenty of unhealthy vegetarians and vegans, too. But no more of them than unhealthy meat eaters.

I’m protein bulking at the moment and due to my crapness with macros, I’ve temporarily gone meat eater again - I can not believe how much I have to eat to get the same protein I used to get from grains and beans!

Skin’s sallower, hair’s lanker and I feel vaguely nauseous all the time. April 5th can’t come quick enough!

same as what everyone else is telling you!

Martial arts teacher for 15 years and a physical job. No problems.

I'm a bit on the skinny side at the moment due to rather stupidly only eating one meal a day. Didn't like the weight I was putting on when I gave up smoking.

Putting it back on carefully now by eating the correct amount of excellent and delicious vegetarian meals.

The nutrients contained in soil isn't as high as it used to be, hence supplements are generally required by everyone. Plus as we get older we have less co-enzyme q10 in our body and that protects against cancer and is anti-ageing. Also most of us lack magnesium which causes all sorts of problems - I suffer with migraines and since I've been taking magnesium,they're nowhere near as bad. I wouldn't be without supplements.

Some food types take longer than others to be digested, as well as have effects upon our physiology and perceived needs. Protein, for example, can come in types that take much longer than, for example, processed sugars. The latter have very rapid influences upon blood sugar levels, with subsequent drops. Granted, that isn't about hunger but food that is digested more slowly can help us to feel fuller for longer as well as create much more even alterations to our satiety and levels of nutrients within our blood.

With a balanced diet, containing all nutrients that are needed, it's possible to be healthy and not to become hungrier too rapidly.

Everything is intensively grown these days

I cant see the farmers that grow for Tescos, making do with poor quality soil

I found various websites via Google regarding nutrients and minerals in soil not being as good as they used to be mainly because of over-farming and poor crop rotation. It's also been mentioned on various TV programmes over the years so it's really not something I've plucked out of thin air.

It's not, its about ploughing and erosion. This is why lots of arable farmers now use no-till systems and spread compost....

You can get all your macros from vegetables and it’s a complete misconception that without meat you can’t. Though I’m not a vegetarian, I eat far less than I used too, due to poor quality in the supermarkets.

There’s an excellent documentary on Netflix entitled ‘What the Health’ it’s really worth watching.
