Consequences of being outed.

London

There's been some discussion re this, so thought I would do a mini poll..

If you were involuntarily outed as a swinger what would the consequences be?

1. I'd be embarrassed but they're would be no major consequences.

2. It would have a major adverse effect on my life in terms of my work, relationships etc

3. Wouldn't bother me at all.

4. I am out already.

Just type a number.

We would be a 1 probably.

I'd hope it would be a 1, but as I work for the NHS possibly a 2, might depend on the discretion of my managers.

Number 2. Unfortunately I’ve been outed a number of years ago but thankfully managed to limit most of the damage and moved on from it. I don’t think I’d be so fortunate a second time around or if more detail was disclosed

4. I'm quite open about it, with both friends and family. They may not all understand my lifestyle choices, but they don't judge or criticise and that's enough for me.

Hiding in the shadows

4 & a bit of 1!

My good friends & my eldest children know & a few of my colleagues have guessed something but aren't 100% fully aware of exactly all the details.

I wouldn't want my youngest children to know, they're still only teenagers & not mentally able to comprehend the facts.

Anybody else, think they'd be more embarrassed than me

"Not sure how I feel about people revealing exactly the impact of exposure on their lives. "

I kinda had that reaction. People give too much away too freely. Why expose vulnerability like that?

It depends who knew. If everyone in my life knew it could have some big consequences. Its' how it would bother other people.

The lads in work would want want to know all about it. Don't know if I'd get the sack from jobs cause of it, though.

My family would probably think I was some pervert, I wouldn't give a stuff about that anyway.

People who work in the pubs I go in, could be strange with me, the girls especially. Could be awkward going into some of them for a while.

I don't know what any of my mates would say. Probably get a mixed response off them.

Seems to me a pretty minimal risk that someone might come on here, find out who thinks it would effect them a lot and then take steps to work out their identity.

Up to everyone of course.

Minimal risk is still a risk. It just deserves pointing out that a list of fabbers who will suffer greatly if they're exposed does potentially put them at risk of exploitation. I wouldn't understand why anyone would object to that simply being mentioned.

I don't object but if you are concerned at that low level of risk and being outed as a swinger would have dire consequences for you, you probably shouldn't be a swinger...
