A forum challenge for Lent

Jump to newest

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Lent starts on Wednesday, also Valentine's Day, and I have a challenge for you all.

Instead of giving up chocolate, crisps, cake, sex etc. give up complaining. They're doing it on the Archers and I thought it would be perfect for the Fab fora.

Who's in?

I like that. I try not to complain too much but we all do it to an extent.

I was using a Daily Happiness Journal at one point and as a result tried to be more positive in life and it was such a nice way to be. Then I went back to work

I am intending to extend it to my life. I have a, generally, blessed life so don't have a real reason to complain.

It is going to be tricky to deal with Thames Water and the leak they caused and a couple of other service providers but I'm up for the challenge.

If they are shaped as complaining then they are covered. It might be a bit much adding them more generally.

A couple of years ago I challenged myself to go a week without saying sorry. I didn't even make it to 7 hours, let alone 7 days.

Today has been moan free, even when I had to deal with a utility company.

Telling people how you are isn't moaning. Moaning would be kvetching that they didn't feel sorry enough for you when you told them.

Start whenever you like. It's not a competition, just Lent.

Feel better soon.

I had a blessed day with no complaints.

The sun was glorious. I found the thing my sister wanted. Lychees were abundant. I've avoided rising to Clem's forum bait. My new car registration came through. My skin feels like the finest soft, buttery leather and I lost just over 2kgs this week.

I expect the last to be reversed as soon as I have a proper meal again but, for now, it's good.

I've been ill most of it. I haven't been too miserable but I moaned about the weather.

Brilliant loss.

Fine. I had someone at work ask where that whistling was coming from earlier and I realised it was me. It was tuneful.

I doubt their comment was based on it being tuneful. I like it when people notice the unusual.

Not too miserable when ill is good. The weather is going to get very cold but it will also be sunny. I hope that lifts your spirits and that you are feeling better soon.

I haven't checked whether it's an ongoing loss but my clothes are feeling comfortable so I'm happy.

"Lent starts on Wednesday, also Valentine's Day, and I have a challenge for you all.

Instead of giving up chocolate, crisps, cake, sex etc. give up complaining. They're doing it on the Archers and I thought it would be perfect for the Fab fora.

Who's in?

"

What a rediculous idea! I certainly don't want any part of this nonsense! I'm fed up of people banging on about the constant complaining on the Fab forum. Count me OUT!!!

(See what I did there?)

I have failed to resist temptation today. I shall find a suitable penance.

I like that idea. Being positive and not complaining for lent. Time to give it a go, might be a bit tough at work. Or they might think I need councelling.

Only two and a half weeks to go. I hope it works well for you.
