I'm looking forward to the curling, don't know why but I really enjoy it. Would love to have a go.

There's a few things I'll watch. Glad I'm not there though! Minus 24 yesterday.

Just the skiing for me. Mainly the usual disciplines, downhill, slalom, GS, Super G. I'm not that fussed about other winter sports.

Plymouth and Newcastle (sometimes)

Ski and boarder cross, big air and slopestyle are our faves but any of the 'adrenaline events' will have us watching.

Seeing the first African bobsled team will be pretty special.

The combined Korean ice hockey team is a breath of fresh air and hopefully will improve relations between north and south.

In general, pretty much all the events are exciting. I'm not much fussed on the figure skating, but I reckon the more freestyle events the better, appeals to a younger audience and gives the Olympics a funkier, youthful appeal. The 'extreme' athletes really now see this as the pinnacle of their sports.

Good to see Great Britain going into the competition with more genuine chance of getting medals than ever before too..

"Anyone else excited about the start of the winter Olympics?

why would that be......

I normally love the Ice Hockey tourny... but this year the NHL haven't let their best players go.... so this one feels like a european team will win rather than canada or the US

any i normally pick a sport that i know absolutely nothing about and see it thru from beginning to end..... it becomes more and more fascinating the more you learn!

this year i have gone with biathlon!

been watching some of it on eurosport just for prep!

Personally, I can't wait for the Winter Paralympics in March...

Attended a Paralympics GB trial in the run-up to the London Games...got a call-back from Para Ice-Hockey, but I've never got the chance to pursue it.

Hence why I've turned my attention to Wheelchair Basketball...best sport EVER!

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I rushed to get through my work to watch at least some of the Opening Ceremony. I'm cold just watching it.

When is the Curling on?

I also want to see the 'Nigerian' Bobsleigh team.

1st March is Wheelchair Day and lots of challenges on. I'm seeing if I can arrange my diary so that I can take on a wheelchair challenge that day. It won't be basketball as I'm not very good with balls.

Love the Winter Olympics! I used to Ski race (Nordic) when I was in the Army and would spend 4 to 5 months a year training and racing - totally in awe of the cross country ski racers; it's a killer sport.

"He's a policeman by trade and tonight, speeding is mandatory." Someone went to the Alan Partridge school of commentary

The luge has already made me laugh twice - once with that, and also the fact that there is a Russian luger called Semen.

Those snowboarders are so cool. It sounds like they are on ice and then end the run and look like they've just been for a stroll.

The mixed double curling is interesting to watch the dynamics and hear the sounds of encouragement (and not) from the team mates.

Close your eyes and they all sound like rowing couples, especially the Chinese pairing.

I read that as rowing (a boat) and not rowing (having an argument) at first.

Seems the husband of the Russian curling minx has tested positive for a performance enhancing drug (Meldonium), you have to wonder if PEDs are much of a help with curling. Meldonium increases blood flow apparently and I have to say that looking at his wife certainly increases my blood flow.

I don't really understand the speed skating. Do they always have to swap sides?

Most of the athletes look like strange rubber toys in their skin tight outfits too.

It's to equal out the distance covered isn't it? Like a staggered start

Why can't they just have a staggered start then?

I think with the longer distance races and the short nature of the track the stagger would require several laps
