Don’t they still have it? Or am I simply just running an ancient version of Word?

I think you're using the Microsoft version of a cave with ancient drawings

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I remember the paperclip.

When we did a locked room challenge we were given a 3.5" floppy disk and one of the children asked why were given the "save" symbol.

I read a really interesting article a while ago about how each successive generation will know less and less about the symbols used on electronics for common actions (like save/floppy disk; call/old-timey telephone; mail/letter; etc.). Was an interesting read, something I hadn't really thought much about.

I hadn't thought about it at all until that exchange. I then bored them silly by talking about 8, 5 and 3.5 inch floppy disks.
