Somewhere In The Ether…

.....but I like it anyway.

I am of course referring to those delightful ‘Guilty Pleasure’ movies that we know are not good but can’t help but to enjoy.

Go on, list some of yours here (no one will laugh at you......honestly)

There and to the left a bit

Independence Day - biggest pile of cheese going with holes all over it - not to mention the whole America saves the world (again) theme but I loved it.

Under Siege - Basically Die Hard on a battleship but made brilliant by Tommy Lee Jones maniacal and comedic villain!!

Am sure I'll think of some more..

The Kingsman movies. Completely OTT, cheesy lines, dodgy plots, but two of my favourite movies of recent times

Oh I'm with you completely Minxy - can't get enough of them but a lot of them are pretty ropey when you think too hard about them from an artistic perspective (which yeah I know you're not supposed to do).

Here's a few guilty pleasures but the list could be endless :

- Point break (cheesy moments perfectly illustrated in Hot Fuzz)

- Footloose (can't get any guiltier than that - shameful in fact)

- Rocky / Rambo movies - positively Gorgonzola .... so cheesy I think I've taken my shoes off

Mortal Kombat - it’s really shit.....and yet somehow strangely awesome at the same time.

The sequel however is pure shit with no redeeming qualities.

Somewhere In The Ether…

All of the Japanese, Godzilla movies; Utterly awful and yet utterly brilliant at the same time.

Who can forget the titular monster playing football with rocks during a supposed, action packed fight with some giant Praying Mantis’s

Snakes On A Plane - classic so bad it's good

Iron Sky - Nazis plan to take over the world...from the moon!! (yes really!!)

Any of the fast and furious films, utter impossible bollocks, acting straight out of the wood shed and it’s just dumbing, I look at everyone who loves these films as a bit thick, or maybe I’m too harsh

Somewhere In The Ether…

I must admit to having a curious proclivity towards the ‘films’ of Godfrey Ho. If you’re not familiar with him, have a ganders at his gargantuan filmography (and aliases!) on IMDb.

What’s not to love about a mundane love story/crime drama movie with randomly spliced in ninja scenes
