FAB CRAP RUNNERS' CLUB

WEEK SIX!!!!

MOTTO: We run #LikeAToddlerChasingAPug

.

.

.

Well done Crap Runners!

28 gorgeous sex pots reported progress during Week Five. It's incredible to see how we're all improving. I'm a bit gob-smacked! I'm not sure I expected it to work!

We've got a few more newbies (welcome!).

.

.

.

EXPLANATION:

If you're unsure what it's all about, the old thread explains (linked to below) but, in short, from 1st January, we're all trying to improve our fitness through "Couch to 5k" (C25K) which is a nine-week running programme for absolute beginners, available on various free phone apps (I'm using Get Running). A few people are getting fit by other means including walking and cycling - all are welcome.

We're all expecting to be utterly crap at it but we're doing it anyway - yay us!

Old thread: https://m.fabswingers.com/forum/lounge/711745

New members are still very welcome - post on this thread and I'll add you to the list next week.

.

.

.

THE OFFICIAL MEMBERS OF THE FAB CRAP RUNNERS' CLUB:

Adam 1971 Completed the dreaded week four run three - 20 minutes of running without stopping. (Nice one you superstar!)

AdsandGeeky Went for 6.5km walk but his ankle is playing up. (How is it feeling now?)

Bitch_and_Twat Ran 3.3 miles in 30 minutes. (Well done!)

bob1981a Achy legs for a couple of days after running. (Is this improving the more you do?)

BoPeep1 Week four completed in the snow! (Nice one you crazy fool!)

Chasing waterfalls Week four run three done. Didn’t feel too bad. And cycled 10 miles! (Nice one. You're right on track)

exciter7169 Ran under the supermoon. Lost weight by avoiding crisps and eatying loads of fruit. (But crisps are niiiiiiiiice!)

fire_blade Newbie. Would like to join the thread as a cyclist. (Welcome! Of course you can cycle. As long as you're crap you're welcome!)

friskynrisky Was using the gym at work until the ceiling fell in. (Top excuse! What's the plan now?)

goodtimes_888 Sent a well done message. (Thanks for your support)

HarryJones1975 Starting this week. (Did you make a start Harry? How did it go?)

itsme8717 Has got his 5km down to 23:30 from 26mins at Christmas. (That's amazing! It seems a million miles away!)

jimmymercury Broke his ankle last year. Been biking in the gym for 25km each day. (That's a huge distance. Are you enjoying it?)

Little_Brat_Evie!! Did her first parkrun for ages. Has done 146 parkruns but now has Plantar Fasciitis. (Did you struggle after the run or were you ok?)

Lookingforlust Wasn't able to run until Thursday. (Did you manage a run?)

Mickey and Minnie Week Two Run One done - not enjoying it yet. (It totally sucks doesn’t it?! Keep at it though - hating running is a requirement in the Crap Runners' Club)

Miles Away Girl Stuck on week four. Fast waddling. (Ain't that the truth?! Pigeons overtake me on foot. Adam got stuck on week four - keep repeating it until you crack it)

MrsTrellis Week four done including the dreaded 20 minute unbroken run.

northerndels1000 Done Week Four Run Two and was faster than she realised. Getting cold feet. (You're getting fitter! Well done!)

Notverywellendowed Been doing boxing instead of running. (Hope it's still going well)

Polarbear73 Did 3.5 km at 6am. (That's just weird! )

signorina Ditched running for sex a couple of times this week. (This is acceptable within the terms and conditions)

sparky4g Will have run 60 miles by the end of the month. He's fitter than he thought he was. (That's great - well done)

stevenelden44 Going to start at the weekend. (Excellent - let us know how you do)

tandh Has a bad cold. (Are you feeling better?)

tigercub89 Having ankle problems but decided to walk. (How did it go? Is it stiff?)

Tigerli1y Newbie. Needs to do Couch to 5k again and needs motovation. (Welcome! Lovely to see you here. No idea about motivation. Someone should bottle it)

Topsy Rogers Did about 3.5 km in 20-23 minutes the furthest yet without stopping. Had one bad day of running. Mental state is important. (I agree - I think that thinking of yourself as someone who can run is essential)

.

.

.

I did the first run of week 6, on the app I’m using it’s 5 minutes run, walk, 8 minutes run, walk and finally 5 minutes run again.

This is less than the solid 20 minutes running of last week but either I’m going faster (it’s relative; I still got overtaken by a car with a flat tyre being pushed by 2 guys) or the exercise took longer. Whatever the reason I ended up being further around my route than before so the final minute was running uphill

There was also a bit of a strong breeze for the rest of the run so it was tough going but I made it. I also ran in daylight so when I trod in the puddles of rainwater and cow pats I could see them shooting up my leg as well as the usual feeling and hearing them. Nice

"Treading in the cow pats? It’s quite easy

The run is hard but to be honest it’s no worse than the other runs. I found week 1 hard and so was week 2. The message really is that it’s difficult but achievable and if you don’t make it then do it again 2 days later until you crack it.

You’re not in a normal running club here where everyone is wonderfully fit, we can fail at stuff sometimes but then have another go. Determination will see you through rather than muscle and you’ll feel great when you do it

Not really, but I don’t know if that was because it was windy or there was still a lot of walking.

Letting you all into a little secret here but I’m not terribly fit, however when I failed in week 3 or 4 I repeated it and that’s what I’ll keep doing.

It is extremely surprising to be running up a hill that you were staggering up a few weeks ago, and rewarding too

Agreed.

I think every week is hard but not hardER. The amount of exercise is going up with our fitness so it feels just the same. (Don’t get me wrong - it feels shit - but the happy/buzzy/smug feeling after is pretty cool!)

Checking in and reminding everyone of our partner thread for us to arrange parkruns (notice no capitals or spacing - it’s their brand apparently)

https://m.fabswingers.com/forum/lounge/720949

I’ll post there later suggesting a couple of dates/locations for those of us in Bedford (Adam1971 that’s you!) and within a radius of about an hour.

Be careful out there in the icy weather...

Sent home early from work with chesty hacking cough sore throat ears popping and sneezing.

This is going to be over before I even start ffs

Harry, we’re gonna have to take you to the vet and have you put down. It’s for the best.

(Doesn’t matter if you start on week nine, as long as you start). X"

Luckily it’s warm outside. Not cold. Definitely not.

A lovely run in the warm Spring air...

Well I did it. Or kind of.

A technical issue with my phone meant I had to guess how long each section was. Basically I ran until I wanted to die, then walked. It was more or less 5 mins, 8 mins, 5 mins. So I’m counting that as done.

Tiring towards the end but i had my destination to get to. Stopped looking at minutes and secknds and just jogging when i csn and walking when i need to, seems to work better for me.

Got a lift home though as i wasnt doing it twice in one day.

I ran last night, it was run 2 of week 6 which is two 10 minute runs with 3 minutes of walking in the middle. I was exhausted at the end but did it.

Friday is 25 minutes of running, no breaks

I can only explain it as the Milgram experiment where some innocent mug is told to give electric shocks to an unseen person in another room; it's to show that given instructions by someone in authority we will keep doing stuff even if the person receiving the shocks appears to be dead!

The voice in my headphones is the person in authority and I'm giving myself more and more horrible shocks by running and no matter what the pain, I keep doing it.

Whereas Fab is like Zimbardo et al (1973) where a group of subjects were split into guards and prisoners and left to make their own rules...the guards quickly became cruel and the prisoners tried everything to break the rules...couldn’t possibly comment on where the power lies on Fab...

By the way, Milgram was an American who was interested in why ordinary German soldiers had “just obeyed orders” in WW2...some of his research team believed that Germans were different and that Americans wouldn’t act like that...they were so wrong...

Here endeth the morning’s Social Psychology lecture...

Anyway, isn’t this a running thread? We’ll get closed by the mods if we carry on like this...

I’ve had the same, work, flu, fuggle life etc...in the words of Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush “Don’t Give Up” (first bloody earworm of the day)...doing anything is better than nothing, and think of it as a holding pattern, where you are maintaining connection with your running.

Don’t make me come over there and kick your arse! You’re not that far away you know!!!

This is the week you get back on track. So pick a day and time to run and tell us what you’ve picked. Then we can all nag, bully and threaten you until you run, after which we’ll flirt and call you “big boy”.

That made me chuckle!!

Thank you for the motivation!!

There is light at the end of the work tunnel, and when I’m running, inspite of feeling like I have the lung capacity of a dormouse sometimes, I am enjoying it (shakes his head in disbelief that actually thinks that).

Next run is Sunday. I’ll keep you posted

"That made me chuckle!!

Thanks again "

Good man, you can do it!

More than that, you will do it, it’s the only way to get the rewards of sexual gratification as promised at the start.

The only downside is that your choice of gratifier may not be available - a bit like that Chase quiz show, you may want to face the governess but instead it’s the beast who dishes out the punishment

I’ve just done run 3, 25 minutes with no stopping

I think that’s about 3.7km of running which is far from an impressive average speed but still amazing that this lard-arse did it.

Thanks for everyone’s encouragement with this, if I can do it then anybody can

Welcome. You’re really welcome here.

A few of us have downloaded “couch to 5k” running programmes which builds up over nine weeks to 30 minutes of unbroken running. I’m using one called Get Running.

Tell us on here when you’re planning to run and then how it went and we’ll all congratulate you. Feel free to cheer on the others too. We’re all people for whom exercise doesn’t come naturally!

I’m not aching the following day either, at the start I thought it was because the amount of running I was actually doing was pathetic but 25 minutes is not to be sniffed at.

Maybe it’s because I’m going so slow? Don’t get me wrong, if I went faster I’d collapse sooner.

Does anyone feel different after all this running? I don’t in day to day stuff (although I don’t know what I was expecting) but when I climbed up a footbridge today I didn’t feel any different to walking on the flat.
