There are many stories set to music those two created, that resonate when heard.

The Boxer, probably one of the strongest songs, but Kathy, Homeward bound, sound of silence, will all top the list when the mood matches the story.

I remember a guy at uni sitting on the end of my bed and singing “I’ve just seen a face”, and I fell hard.

You're all wrong.

The best song is 'America' by a country mile.

Poignantly Saginaw, the town namechecked by Paul Simon was the subject of a BBC online feature this month illustrating why lifelong democrat voters are turning towards Trump.

I *am* a total softie and with every heart-hardening experience, I still refuse to be anything other than a softie. I believe one day, one day someone might love me. Sighs. And I’ll be the ‘face’.

So many I love...not to mention Paul Simon's solo albums.

But my favourite is most certainly El Condor passa.

I love the eerie Charango start, I love the lyrics, the sense of freedom and hope it carries. I think it is the song that made me like Simon and Gartfunkel as a child, and from which I grew my love for their songs.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

The Boxer and Old Friends... but I love most of them.

I saw that Paul Simon is playing Hyde Park this summer and I'm a little tempted and wary at the same time.

over the hill / chatsworth

Laughing on the bus, playing games with the faces

She said the man in the gabardine suit was a spy

I said, be careful, his bowtie is really a camera

Toss me a cigarette, I think there's one in my raincoat

We smoked the last one an hour ago

So I looked at the scenery

She read her magazine

And the moon rose over an open field
