Yet again we hear of unscrupulous puppy breeders selling sick imported breeds without a care for the poor dogs . If anyone is thinking of getting a dog please consider a rescue dog. I got pooch a couple of years ago and our bond is unbreakable . It's only an opinion so please don't have a go . P x

I have a mate who fosters for a rescue place and the stories of puppy farming are horrendous. It really makes me cross. There are days when I hate humans.

We lost our dog 3 n half month ago she was nearly 20 x we looked at rescue dogs but unfortunately were too big we got a jack russell pup from burnley we had her 3 months n love her to bits x will never replace the one we lost

Me neither . I do wonder about the thought process of people who are willingly cruel to any animals . I honestly cannot understand there thought process

I got my mog from the Blue Cross 18 years ago - best £30 I've ever spent!!

My sweet girl is a rescue. We've been together 4 years, she's a wonderful companion, and love her to bits. Sadly I won't have her company much longer, but am grateful for each additional day

My dogs are both rescued, my dane was an abuse case rescue.

I'll only ever adopt, there's so many breed specific rescues that there no reason to have to buy from breeders.

My rescue JRT is lying across my left leg and is busily licking my left hand; this is one handed typing.

I've has him for three months and he's a real bundle of energy and completely bonkers.

A roast chicken dinner will be heading his way in around 30 minutes.

I’ve always adopted rescue dogs I’ve had four in total all just so loving and affectionate my girl now is just gorgeous.

I had one dog from a pup and I’m sure the woman I bought him from conned me!! She was so convincing even showing me the puppies with Mum, however 4 years on he developed kidney failure it was so sad we were all heartbroken I’m now convinced he was from a puppy farm there are so many wicked cruel evil bastards out there who only do it for money I would advise anyone to get a rescue dog from a reputable centre they are the most loyal companions

Our 2 current ones are both rescue, one we have had from 9 weeks and now his history the other from about 16 to 18 weeks and we know she has been mistreated by a man probably with a broom or stick and had other issue's also..

Had one for 6 and a half years and the latter one for nearly 18 months..

Definitely agree. There’s so many in rescue centres of all different breeds there shouldn’t be a need to buy puppies.

There needs to be more regulation or something too to only allow certain approved people to be able to breed them, not very realistic probably but good in theory in my mind.

My baby is a rescue, been together eight years now and she is my little sweetheart, wouldn't know what to do without her. As soon as we walked into the kennels she was the one we spotted and just kept going back for. I love her to bits xx

My old man came through Battersea. We reckon we're his 6th home. We've had him 12 years, and was told he was around 6 when we got him. Making him 18.

He's an over fat JRT, with more lumps and bumps and a massive herniya. But he's happy, although hen pecked by our chicken. Love him till he passes. Even thou he snores

Mostly because we dont have a large garden and a back door we can leave open all day (actual terms)

Yet we live 60 seconds from a massive park..

The dog can come to work with me if needed

Oh and we have a rescue cat that literally sleeps at least 21 hours a day, that just wiped out most of our options.. apparently.

The last dog we wasnt a match for.. because of the cat - came from a home.. with 12 cats.

I have a rescue dog, a Yorkshire Terrier - she is a total pain in the backside. Unfortunately a lot of rescue dogs come with problems that can be annoying to resolve.

I agree the last two dogs have been rescue dogs.

A border collie we were given by a farmer, as she didn't want to trained and was going to be shot.

The latest is a gorgeous shih tzu, we got her at 3 years old. We are her 4/5 owners.

Yep lively dogs, just not quite suited to boat life.

Also not a fan of the rspca. You can look at the cats.. the rabbits.. but not the dogs.

"Look through the (clearly) outdated folder and pick a dog (from 2 pictures if your lucky)

Have to say though I've had a few, and none were cat friendly

My mate who fosters from a rescue place has three dogs, six cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, three kids, a husband and a grandchild. They all live harmoniously together. It’s actually pretty cool watching the dogs, cats and rabbits all roaming in the garden together.

I think you should find a new rescue place to adopt from. They have a responsibility to make sure pets go to the right homes but already having a cat shouldn’t hinder you rehoming a dog... the right one will appear.

Those struggling there are lots of foundations and groups and smaller charities looking for fosters and homes they are usually breed specific and local.

The bulldog I have is from a bulldog rescue, which is run by a small group of people.

Rescued one from cyprus that ‘found’ us.. woke up one more to find her curled up on our doorstep...

Did the various checks and health checks and brought her back here to our other 2 dogs...hard work for a good 18 months or so not knowing her history but small steps every day and so worth while...such a loving dog now.. just doesn’t do rain or puddles lol

had to do that on our Airedale, not that bad..

have had to give valium rectally to a collie with epilepsy, not easy to do post seizure but had to look after the little guy..
