Does anyone else think that these awards go mainly to the most boring films that came out recently?

After looking at the nominees for each category, I saw that the most entertaining movies have only one or two nominations whereas most of the nominations have gone to ones that seem to be The most boring.

It's probably just me but I just wanted to know if anyone thinks the same

To be honest. I don't even rate the oscars as an indicator of a movie being any good or not. It's just an annual backslapping event for Hollywood glitterati.

It does definitely seem as though the more “highbrow” films get the accolades. I tend to prefer easy to watch “leave your brain at the door” popcorn movies when having a night out.

Having said all that though, the last one I watched was ‘The Darkest Hour’ last week!
