Is it me or does anyone else find it hard to take compliments?

I never know what to say and then just say thank you and feel silly.

Teach me how to take a compliment and not come off like I don’t care

I think saying thank you is a nice, demure way to receive a compliment? As long as it's not immediately followed by a self deprecating put down? X x x

It’s a very British trait. Stiff upper lip, self deprecating.

Most of us do it.

“That dress looks nice on you!”

“Oh this thing, I’ve had it years and it was very cheap ..”

I'm exactly the same. If its hubby I'll tell him he's just trying to get in my undies, he doesn't have to lie. Anyone else I do an awkward thank you, and think I'm a dick

There should be classes on it, I’m not good at all taking a compliment. X

Thank you!

Although to be fair, as she started the thread I think you should compliment the OP too!

Same for me - hate compliments. Can't do my own birthday either!

Just smile, say thank you and move on.

If you try and talk about it more it’s easy to get tongue tied

Depends on the compliment for me, if it's oh I love the colour of your lipgloss or I love your shoes then I say thank you and enlighten where it's from, if it's a compliment on a pic for example, then it's still a thank you but say something like 'it was taken in good light' which I suppose is a way to play it down, or if it's a compliment of... You give an amazing BJ then it's a hell Yeah Baby..... lol
