If one considers how much enjoyment a person will get from spending their time building it, it probably is a bargain compared to some hobbies.

Every time I see those adverts I think, "why?" The total cost is ridiculous. Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a quality model kit and an informative book?

the millennium falcon worked out to over 800 quid once completed and would take about 3 years to get all the pieces.

i didn’t get it myself, got the lego one instead

Felt sorry for my mate. His kid wanted some magazine that you build some crap model. Was years ago. Anyway for while he managed to avoid being roped into it because he'd worked out I'm sure it was gonna cost about a grand for a model which looked not very good anyway.

Felt sorry for him because the first weekend every month stayed at mums....so guess what mother buys the kid the magazine...my mate because of the then tantrums from his son and lots of mum let's me and hate you wanna live with mum crap...his hands got tied. He don't have much money, he don't earn lot, he used to talk at time of dreaming taking his son on a caravan holiday but impossible to save even few quid.

Guess awful for some parents forced into pleasing the child him or her having seen it on tv

Just buy a model kit. Get all the pieces at the same time. I know an avid modeller. It can become an addiction. There are modelling clubs you can join and people take part in competitions at shows. They also specialise in particular genres eg sci-Fi, fantasy, cars, planes, etc.

Fifty shades of Humbrol grey I kid you not!
