"Schadenfreude is the experience of pleasure, joy, or self-satisfaction that comes from learning of or witnessing the troubles, failures, or humiliation of another. When did you last experience it? Come on, be honest, we won't judge! " I'm too busy trying to recover from fucking up/ failing/ humiliating myself to notice anyone else's fuck ups. Or if I do notice something I'm usually thinking ohhh crap I did that but worse.

Come on, be honest, we won't judge! " Almost daily, if I'm honest; I receive so many video clips (in a Whats'app group) from all round the world, of people doing stupid things, and coming a cropper

That's schadenfreude.

My view still stands on getting joy out of other people’s failures. Finding humour in nonsense spillages isn’t quite the same.

"The important aspect in schadenfreude is malice in the joy one feels over another’s misfortune. Jeremy Beadle ‘You’ve been framed’ type humour is not really a good example of its real meaning." I never enjoyed that program either. Even as a child it made me feel uncomfortable.

Come on, be honest, we won't judge! " Years ago I worked at Windsor Safari Park...In the Top Section they had a monkey jungle where you could walk through a tunnel with the monkeys above you where you could feed them peanuts. One guy started teasing one of the monkeys and I told him to stop or he would have to leave. I was then called away to another part of the jungle. When I came back I could still see him teasing the monkey as I went to tell him to go the monkey had enough and reached down to pull his hair...it was a wig...the guy was bald as a coot...he went dashing out in embarrassment and all you could see was this shoulder length wig haring round the cage with a monkey underneath...I did eventually retrieve the wig...for the monkeys safety...but was laughing the whole time...Did I experience joy pleasure and satisfaction...damn right I did...and I still can, makes me smile every time I remember it lol.

He's a complete psycho with zero empathy for others. When I think of schadenfreude I think of him." Damn, I should have known someone from Brigadoon would have a hidden profile!

My opinion about this is that someone who derives pleasure/satisfaction from a friends failures is an insecure loser who can't or won't try to accomplish anything for themselves

He doesn't want his friends to fail or suffer or have a bad time...he just feels pain when he sees them succeed. Of course the irony is that Gore Vidal was a hugely successful and influential journalist author and social commentator. So maybe it was his friends who felt the jealous and envy?
