What do you think is the best way to deal with it?

"What do you think is the best way to deal with it?"

Depends how it manifests itself to be honest - but like most bullies I tend to find you stand up to them and they back down

This is oh so true I've started challenging "my" bullies and it takes them aback

Option 1. Ignoring it.

Easy to say I know, but if an online bully is starved of attention, it gets bored and moved on.

Option 2. Education.

Friendly encouragement to educate the offender that what they are doing is wrong. They may be unaware that they are bullying and may see what they are doing as banter.

Option 3. Report it.

This leads back to education and ignoring. We have seen too often trolls who like nothing better than to harrass people online. If option 1 or 2 fail, use the correct channels to get someone in authority to do something.

As I said it depends how it manifests itself - sometimes the best policy is to ignore them but where that's not possible, confronting them often works in my experience.

Use a specialist to trace their address - then shoot them dead.

You'll have to go on the dark web for that.

How is this manifesting? Male to Female , Female to Female?

What site/apps is it happening on?

More info required.

I struggle with this whole online bullying nonsense. How can someone bully you when there's an on/off button that stops it dead?

Someone was trying to have a go at me on here the other day. I just took the piss till they blocked me. Easy.

The OP is just a general question, not a personal one. Thank you for caring though, that means a lot.

"I struggle with this whole online bullying nonsense. How can someone bully you when there's an on/off button that stops it dead?"

It depends on the type of bullying - the generic term ‘online bullying’ is wide ranging.

An off button won’t delete the revenge porn someone’s shared of you online or via email to your friends or family.

Nor will it stop the late night obscene phone calls if someone’s been sharing your telephone number on sex sites etc

As ever, nothing is ever really as black and white as we first think!

"The OP is just a general question, not a personal one. Thank you for caring though, that means a lot. "

1st: Block them.

2nd: Toy with them and take the piss out of them, till they block you. {funnest option cause you are using the dominance hierarchy against them. Unleash your inner troll to hearts content.}

3rd: If they are real assholes and not taking the hint. Get on the dark web.

Here's a general one, if it's targeted at kids.

Blocking someone doesn't work, they will just come back on another profile.

I'm a lover not a hater. I see no need to be rude back to them.

The situation won't change unless you do. Use it as an opportunity for growth.

The psychopaths who are targeting you are using the dominance hierarchy against you.

You have 2 options.

1. Find an alpha male who will take the steps to protect you.

2. You end up leaving the site because you are that much a lover, you have no fight in you.

Ignore.

Or go cray cray with a knife or shotgun (If you can find one).

Either works.

It's obviously distressing if someone is affected by it ... But I don't think it would have any resonance with me. I'm a cyberthicky.

I like option 1; don’t give them the argument that are looking for!

I'm never rude back. I just ask why they feel the need to be so offensive to someone they do not know

Totally agree. Only caveat is that bullying behaviour can come from narcissism and no amount of education will make a difference.

I'm afraid that ignoring is the best way.. Hopefully they will get boared in the end. Getting involved in the discussion will not help. They have their mind set and will not listen to anyone...

Stick your hand though the computer screen down the internet and out of the bully's screen and shake them warmly by the windpipe......

Well it works in cartoons

I agree with the ignoring it option. Online bullies are even bigger cowards than real life ones in my opinion.

Don't feed the troll is a saying for a reason. My skin is thicker than a rhino, but then again, I've never encountered it personally.

If it's a child being bullied, stop them from going on the internet other than for school work.

An adult would have to make that decision for themself.

Online bullying is so silly. The victims should just delete their profile I just don't understand why the victims cry about it when they have the option to delete. People always have choices, in this instance walk away or stay and fight. Because you don't know the person and most are "keyboard warriors" then to save your emotional need just delete the profile. It's so simple it doesn't deserve any news.

Same as with bullying in real life, or any situation involving a conflict of opinion - violence.

I agree with the above. Why should the victim have to delete their profile when they can just keep it and become a bully themselves? And a better one.
