That was a superb series! The finale was terrible however; All the years of Sam’s adventures and in the last episode we are rewarded with a feeble paragraph of writing on the screen telling us that he never got back home

You mean the actor Barry Bostwick? He was in it for the first season as I recall; The plot featured a weird trio of characters flying around in a giant bug-like space ship called the Lexx. Just to make it weirder, one was in fact dead, one was a caretaker and one was a sexy lady.....who was in reality a lizard

Not pure sci-fi admittedly, but close enough, does anyone remember a series from the early eighties called, Manimal? It stared the late British actor, Simon MacCorkindale and revolved around his amazing ability to change into any animal in order to solve crimes (or something). Budgetary restraints meant that he invariably only transformed into either an eagle or a puma but it was nonetheless rather fun in a joyous eighties sort of way

The contestants had to cross the board whilst avoiding it for the final game (wasn’t it turn based as I recall?) And there was also what looked like a shaking pot plant in some scenes (or am I going mad?)

Good shout - got them all on DVD.

I would say classic Doctor Who as I remember it from when I was a kiddie.

Sadly I saw some re-runs a few years back on a satellite channel and they were crap! So much worse than I remembered! I wish I’d never seen them again now :’(

Battlestar Galactica (2003 remake) was simply one of the best TV shows of all time, let alone sci fi. Mixed military, faith and politics brilliantly.

Firefly was fun, not sure about best but enjoyable.

Fringe, started a little slow like x-files monster of the week, but then the writers revealed the true purpose of the show and it became EPIC!

I remember that it used to scare me as a child (lots of talk of eating one another etc) and yet I loved it at the same time. The funniest part (apart from Monkey’s awesome flying pink cloud!) was that it was clearly a woman playing Tripitaka the MALE monk and yet no one questioned it. Apparently though, the producers chose a lady as in the original text the said character was said to be pure and beautiful. Classic show!

Really? Tiger was also a clone as I recall and if memory serves me, was killed off in one episode with another identical replacement assuming the mantle at the end. Let us not forget also that none other than the late, great Windsor Davis provided the voice for bot 101

There was a two part reboot in the mid nineties which starred Roy Thinnes again but only for a brief few minutes screen time. Sadly, This revisiting bore none of the charm of the original series though but was seemingly designed to provide some closure to the story.

He was indeed - playing a shady character with knowledge about the infected bees which featured in a few episodes

Another two, more recent and rather good s I-fi series:

Sliders - starring Jerry ‘The piranhas aye my cock!’ O’Connell and John (Gimli!) Rhys-Davies.

It started off brilliantly but ran out of steam (and became frankly quite shit) after about two seasons.

Almost Human - starring Karl (Judge Dredd) Urban and Michael (love interest in a Beyoncé video!) Ealy.

Ok so the series was a admittedly cliched but it had a curious sort of eighties like charm to it. Needless to say, it was therefore cancelled after only one season

Great thread (thanks OP), reliving my youth thinking about The Invaders & those disk thingies they'd put on someone's neck! Very fond of Quantum Leap, 2 episodes stand out for me, one where Al was actually being impersonated by Satan and the other was where he leaped back to his home town and met his father again, oh the feels(sniff sniff). As for memory lane, anyone remember 'My favourite Martian' with Ray Walston (who I saw recently calling the fake horse race in The Sting) + the late Bill Bixby (of The Incredible Hulk & The Magician fame).

Given the site we're on(& not wanting to hijack the thread), who's your favourite Sci-fi babe Erin Gray (in Buck Rogers) or Majel Barrett/Nicholls Nicholls (Star Trek-one married to Rodenberry, the other bedded by him) or 7 of nine(Jeri Ryan)... any other suggestions- guys/gals?

Erin Gray was gorgeous - as was the brunette villainess from the same series. My ultimate vote goes to Xenia Seeberg though, who played the second version of Zev from Lexx. Those legs....those lips...that accent....oh my word!!!

I loved the original V, thinking about I remembered Marc Singer, the hero/action man in a few series. He's now 69yrs old & I was shocked (obviously because I've not aged a bit myself) but the I read that his sister was Lori Singer of 'Fame' fame.
