Welcome to everybody either already in the FCRC or who wants to be. We’re very inclusive here you know, especially if you have a nice arse (or want one!).

This thread is intended for us all to discuss meeting up at parkruns and to post our progress.

First thing is to go over to www.parkrun.org.uk and investigate the site.

#RunsLikeAToddlerChasingAPug

#TheseMoobsWereMadeForWaddling

Love and kisses,

Moobs Twat

You’ll be fine from now - lots of people walk/run parkrun. It’s just like doing a training session over 5K rather than time...

Parkrun is the best, and a sure way thing to keep you on track and have fun with running, and also leads to in time getting to know your local running club members

This is the first I've heard of this club by the way

Absolutely! Parkrun don't care if you run or walk, just that you get off your butt and get out there!

Have a look at the old threads in The Lounge - it was set up by Mrs Trellis and Adam1971 to encourage people to go “Couch to 5K”.

I was speaking to yet another running friend on the train this week about this, and my likely finish times and how great it is.

I had threatened to another friend I was going to go this Saturday as she is volunteering so it's the only time I could say I had been at the same park run as her and finished before her lmao.

I can't even normally wake up by 9am on a Saturday let alone have driven the road to hell to get 17 miles to a parkrun, but have it on several good authorities there is another one due to start very soon much nearer to me.

"I love park run.

I’ll also be starting an improvers’ thread in about a month or so, which will provide support for 5K-10K running and advice on techniques to improve speed-stamina so keep an eye out for that.

Moobs Twat

PS In the days before moobs, I ran 16:58 for 5K...and trained and raced against people faster than that.

"400meter reps between 2 and 7"

Need to up that distance...it’s not pure speed you need, it’s speed-stamina.

Although you do need all 3 of speed, speed-stamina, and stamina...and that’s the basis of a 3 times a week training schedule. People have run sub-3 marathons off 3 high quality sessions a week...

Exciting news for all FCRC members (which is anyone who runs like a toddler chasing a pug). The message below was posted in the main FCRC thread (Week 7 part 1) by Mrs Trellis a short time ago...

All welcome - let us know either in this thread or the main thread if you are planning to be there. Don’t forget to sign up on the parkrun website and print out your barcode before the day.

Twat

FAB CRAP RUNNERS' CLUB SOCIAL!!!!!!!

I am beyond excited to announce a Fab Crap Runners' Club social at the end of week nine. After plotting everyone's location on a map (yes, I do need to get a life), and with the help of Twat, I have picked a fairly-central parkrun with a pub/cafe nearby.

Date:

Saturday 3rd March at 9am (meet from 8.30am)

Venue:

Great Denham parkrun http://www.parkrun.org.uk/greatdenham/

Followed by:

Coffee, cake and gossip at about 10am at Brewers' Fayre, Marsh Leys, MK42 7FY

What to do:

Put the date in your diary and register for free with parkrun on the link above. I'll figure out the finer details ASAP.

RSVP:

Please let me know on this thread if you're intending to come along.

But, but, but:

I know - it's bloody terrifying! Running with actual runners at an actual event! But you have options.

(i) I will do the course with the slowest person in our group (and may well be the slowest person come to think of it). If we need to walk the whole thing, that's what we'll do. So no one in our group will be last - the slowest two of us will cross the line together.

(ii) I'll come up with a way of us identifying each other that doesn't "out" us as Fab-folk. I won't carry a giant sign that says "Swingers Assemble Here".

(iii) If you don't want to do the course or you're not ready for it, my other-half will be hobbling around on an ongoing knee-injury at the finishing line and will gladly stand with you and chat away about all sorts of rubbish.

(iv) Or, if you have any sense at all, you'll feign injury and just meet us in the pub afterwards.

Reckon everyone should have to wear a backpack to bring their weight up that of the heaviest runner. See how good those racing snakes really are when they're lugging all that lard around!
