Edinburgh

I’m a bit of a junk fiend... I like old stuff and I’m wondering if there’s any recommendations of places to visit whilst I’m on my travels. Cause clearly I don’t have enough junk in my life!

I’m off for a week in February and going down to Stafford to visit friends. I’ve been to Dagfields a few times but I’m wondering if anyone knows of anywhere else round and about that’s worth a visit.

Any other junk fans around?

It depends on what you’re after. There is a Cawardens reclamation place in Rugeley east of Stafford or a lovely place at Wolseley Bridges just past Shugborough. Also a great but expensive wine shop!

We’re up your way in Feb xx

Stafford has the ‘ancient high house’. It’s right in the centre and from Tudor times, worth having a look and then popping into the soup kitchen.

Doesn’t involve collecting junk though

I don’t know if the antique and collectors fair is on that weekend at the county showground, but in Stafford itself there is only one antique shop. Lichfield has a few nice ones, and Cawarden is worth a visit as is the place at wolseley bridge. Oh and Penkridge has an antique shop and auction house as well. X

Isn’t that typical!

Are you doing something nice while you’re here?

Thanks for the tips... I’ve been to Shugborough before but didn’t know there was a junk place in the vicinity. I’ll add it to my list!

Nowhere near Stafford but Tetbury has lots of antique shops and charity shops as well as being a lovely town to visit.

We’re going up to Dundee for a change for our half term 19 Feb - a nice lodge with hot tub, kids & dog.... Frank wants to visit St Andrews & I’m hoping to catch up with friends. Calling into Edinburgh on way home so Frank can meet my family x

Shugborough is walking distance for us

Lichfield is a lovely small city about a half hour drive. I’ll ask around at work if any other places - Stafford is rubbish!! - my colleagues live all over

Stoke area

Leek is a lovely small town and has loads of antique shops to wander round. Nice coffee shops too.

I think I might have been to Leek before... is there a steam train there?

There is a steam train running from Cheddleton just outside Leek yep. It's about an hour drive from Stafford.

I live in the area if you want more info
