I don’t think I do seek attention. I do my ‘doing’ in private. The things I do openly are Fab pics, post the occasional comment, keep my distance from the nutters. I do sometimes join in the hot and flirty threads but that’s really just to traumatise the one of two men that I practice my inept flirting on.

Other than that my Fab experience is one similar to being at school where my teachers would say ‘Babs? Babs who?’ ..... I’m there, somewhere in the shadows where I’m comfortable

I'm exactly the same apart from the odd occasional thread I start. The amount of attention a person needs is different with each and every one of us isn't it,I prefer to be more in the background and let others take centre stage.

It's the nature of modern life to seek attention - the Internet has made everyone into something they're not, and given everyone expectations beyond their own reality. YOU CAN BE A STAR (you can't).

Social media (and that's what this forum is) has made people show-off and feel the need to live up to certain standards & ideals which fuels the narcissist inside every one of us. Some people more than others naturally.

This isn't 'just' a sex-contact site anymore, and you have to remember that when you speak to/deal with people on here. People are using the site for numerous different reasons, some of which are garnering attention, or seeking some sort of validation through the idea that they're physically attractive - that in itself is a very broad subject, one I wouldn't even bother trying to psychoanalyse too deeply (you will upset people) though my own view is that physical validation through social media is an unhealthy pursuit in the long-run.

It shouldn't be presumed everybody is seeking attention for the same reasons. People who seem to seek attention quite obviously and openly are often presumed to be desperate or in need of some sort of validation or confidence boost, which may not be the case at all.

I don't want attention from the masses; I've come to the conclusion that I have no ego to swell. I'm bland about being idolised or dawned over, as it bores me.

I like the occasional person who sees my profile (which I don't think is particularly self-promoting) and wants to talk to me.

My forum threads usually come about from some random thought I have while laying in bed (I had one this morning about films concerning the origins if Australia).

I don't think there is anything wrong in wanting or doing something for attention. Most of us enjoy positive attention in one way or another. Sexual attention is no different, and can make you feel good.

I like the attention I get when I post a new pic or when I write something insightful online and people reply to say how good my post or thread is. The attention isn't really my primary motive for doing something, but it does play a bit of a role and I like it.

There's a difference between seeking attention and seeking validation. The occasional bit of attention seeking is natural however stable you are as a personality; sometimes the attention sought is from those we are close to and sometimes it's strangers. It's a temporary pick me up that makes us feel good but we can maintain a clear perspective regardless. The issue comes when people's sense of self is skewed or at a low ebb for long periods of time and they come to rely on attention from others for the validation they can't or won't give themselves. Then it might be a spiralling problem since the need for external reassurance increases as the internal confidence decreases.

Ah yes, one thing my three weeks experience on here has shown me is that it’s very much a fuck site, with a few ‘proper’ Swingers in the mix for good measure!
