Yup that's the rules I'm afraid, my drivers are told the same, doorstep delivery only, nothing to do with the delivery company by the way, speak to the people you bought it from.

Did it say specifically kerb drop on order?

If not complain to company and ask for return of delivery charge...on grounds of not specifying service you have paid for.

If they refuse then go to trading standards...a letter from them will normally produce results

Had a similar thing happen recently. It was free delivery and I assumed that they would bring the item into the house. The driver pointed out that there was an option on the website when ordering that I could have ticked and for an extra £30 I could have had it brought in and placed in situ. Luckily I had two tenners in my pocket and managed to persuade the driver and his mate to take it inside or I'd have been stuffed.

What's done is done.

Get it covered up to protect it from the weather and see if you can get some friends or neighbours to help you get it inside asap.

If they specifically told you it would be put in place they are in breach of contract and you are absolutely 100% entitled to not only return of delivery charge but possibly damages for extra work it has caused you

IPSWICH

It's insurance reasons usually. I deal with couriers and pallet companies alot. Most deliveries are officially kerb side because staff aren't covered for being on or in your property.

It doesnt matter about delivery company rules...If the supply company specifically told you it would be put in place they are in breach of contract and you are absolutely 100% entitled to not only return of delivery charge but possibly damages for extra work it has caused you.

As for the wheels can only suggest using something as a lever to raise item onto the wheels.

Did they say it was an in place delivery or is it written down?

If it isn't written down take this as a life lesson that greasy salesweasels lie to secure the deal.

North Bucks

I had this with 40 plaster boards that were helpfully left on my driveway in the rain by a three man delivery team that could have moved three yards into open French doors. They wouldn’t have even had to go up a step.

Well if the guys coming to fit it on Saturday leave it where it is right now and make it his problem to move it if the selling company told you it would be put in the right place and haven't.

"I had this with 40 plaster boards that were helpfully left on my driveway in the rain by a three man delivery team that could have moved three yards into open French doors. They wouldn’t have even had to go up a step.

"

There's too many people make claims for things that do and sometimes do not happen.

Compo culture to blame.

Here's a small example. The guys bring the plasterboard in, no damage, happy days. You work with the plasterboard an hour later, something goes wrong, you damage a board beyond use.

"Hello, plasterboard company, I'm doing an urgent job and your delivery men damaged a board bringing it in the house. Yes, I know they're not supposed to bring it inside but they insisted. Why didn't I notice at the time? Well they put it at the bottom of the stack and they made me sign the paperwork in a hurry. Yes, I want my money back and more boards brought out or I'll tell Twitter you're bullies."

So to keep things easy, things get done by the letter following procedures because there are too many greedy liars around.
