TUMBLE

Ok so I'm the fem of the couple and I'm still up as can't sleep. Someone's just knocked on my door but I didn't answer it. I still have lights and the tv on. They knocked again. Who could be knocking on the door at this time of morning?? Was just a bit worried as I'm home alone

My daughter phoned me in a similar panic once.

The room she rents is on the ground floor and someone was knocking on the window. She got herself into a right state.

I suggested she pulled the curtain back a bit and see who it was.....

One of her housemates who’d forgotten their key. Ffs.

If it happens again can I suggest you look out of the window or through the spy hole?

If it’s a zombie or raving mad axe man you call the police.

We've had a spate of this happening round where we live. Potential burglars scouting out properties, gauging which houses to do. They knock and await reactions.

Yes there was no more knocking so tried to get my head down but because there was so much noise due to the wind every little bang made me jump so couldn't really sleep

Wind in the letter box? I had the exact same thing the other night but it was just the letterbox. Sounded exactly like a knock

I was scared and as no family or friends live anywhere near me I knew it wasn't them, I don't have a spy hole but yes next time it happens I'll run upstairs and look out the window

When you're alone or alone with young children it can be quite frightening if something unusual happens in the middle of the night. I understand how you felt.

It was probably the wind but that's no comfort when you're scared. Make sure you're all locked up and keep your mobile in your hand but try not to worry too much.

Tonight will be calmer, hope you get more sleep.

I'm pretty sure it was a knock as they knocked on the glass and it only happened twice but thank you

Could it have been a tree branch or shrub?

Keep the radio on low tonight when you go to bed it can be quite comforting.

Would suggest a good time to check security at your home. Can it be improved?

Just been looking at the Yale Digital Door Viewer on Youtube. A possible option and easy to install.

Stay safe. x

It might have saved you a lot of worry! Didn't mean to belittle the way you felt though, it's not nice being scared
