Boring Luxury!

Wandering aimlessly round the supermarket wondering what to have for dinner I thought sod it and bought an expensive free range organic chicken for my dinner. Roasted it with whole lemons and coriander and it was fantastic, really noticed the difference.

So, luxury for me but boredom for you, what is or was your equivalent?

Not a chicken but chicken eggs. I always buy the most expensive ones. They look better and cook better.

"Not a chicken but chicken eggs. I always buy the most expensive ones. They look better and cook better."

I only charge £1 for 6 for mine, can't claim them to be organic because their layers pellets aren't but the chickens are free range and get fresh veggies each day.

Really decent coffee, made with freshly ground beans, cosy on the cafetiere, bone china cup warmed with hot water and a little hot milk.

Deadly boring for everyone. Luxury for me

No, that sounds like something all us coffee lovers should set time for at least once a day.

Definitely, on a crusty, granary loaf. Which in itself is another boring luxury, instead of using warburtons toastie slice.

"Lurpak butter"

Everyone should have it on toast or crumpets, especially slightly salted, although have you seen the price of butter now!

Lidl have a couple of really nice granny and multigrain breads less than 90p a loaf.

They certainly are, do like a granny smith though, but Pink Lady are an apple's apple.

Bought truffle powder to add to some of our pasta dishes. It can turn a boring pasta into something really luxurious.

Is it me or are most now either just smooth or only slight coarse, but what about on Melba toast or those Swedish crispy things that come in a paper bag, texture difference makes it work.

Not oil? Never seen powder but plain pasta is boring so that does sound fantastic.

We bought it in Germany and didn't have checked baggage so we couldn't get the truffle oil. The powder is just as good, though. I'm in heaven

I think it’s awesome to have meat less often maybe and rather seeking out quality, adequately kept meat for your dinner!!

Milk, White and Dark chocolate coated coffee beans from Waitrose with hot port and the best cocoa mixed in. The chocolate and Port hit is lovely, and the original way that chocolate was consumed in London.

Am going down that route and in the case of the chicken every bit will be used. The cooking juices will be used to make soup along with the carcass.

It is fabulous on toast, but if I started eating that I don't think I'd ever stop!

I suppose like any luxury, moderation is the watch word otherwise it becomes the mundane. Have just a smidgen every now and again.

Libidex latex (mostly) instead of just whatever cheaper brands there are. Libidex is not the most expensive, but I do really enjoy their design and quality.

Proper thick crusty bread, proper salted butter, premium quality butchers sausage.

That’s luxury for me as I have to contend with wholemeal thin bread, no butter and rubber sausages for my diet
