Starbucks - because they have a better range of not-too-sickly cold drinks like the lemonade/hibiscus iced tea, plus their cheese and marmite panini is lovely. I can't comment on the 'better' coffee - real coffee doesn't agree with me wherever I drink it

Their cappuccino certainly tastes more of coffee than Starbucks, for half the price! !

Got to agree, maccy d’s Do a great coffee.

I’d rather put my money in the toll of a local coffee shop than feed a global chain

There and to the left a bit

For their coffee, either is fine.

For their approach to paying UK tax and their loyalty scheme, then Costa without a doubt!!

Costa , Starbucks not bad coffee but way over priced and as already mentioned always a bit on the cool side. Mac Ds or greggs for me. Pretty good coffee and a good price but I can never beat my own coffee at home. Proper coffee pot with fresh ground beans

I like to support small business, the kind that large companies are squeezing out. Small independent family run cafe every time. The coffee is better, the cake is better, the atmosphere is better, they probably pay the same amount or more tax and the staff always seem happier. If one isn't available, a bottle of water from somewhere.

You can keep your latte frappachapa americanachinos they're not for the likes of me.

With regards to Starbucks and lukewarm drinks, request extra hot and they can override the machine

This. Give me a small independent coffee spot any day. I only hit Starbucks, Costa and Caffe Nero if I need to grab something quick!

For the few times I drink a coffee I don’t mind either but we only have a Costa in our town centre and I’m not going to the local retail park just for a coffee. But I mainly use the local independent shop x

I'm sure whether they're a small independent or large chain, they all pay minimum wages and they're all supposed to follow the current employment laws and give holiday time. The larger companies can afford the legal support to help them twist those laws and zero hours contracts are probably far more common in larger companies, not just coffee shops! It's good we're all different though, plenty of coffee and cake for everyone
