i desperatly need a new lappy, and have been looking online, and found a site via ebay that sells reconditioned commercial ones.

Now i'm a Georgian at heart, i dont get technonology,so i am turning to those who understand such things for advice

1.Has anyone bought from this type of place, a good or bad experience?

2.Does it matter they dont have windows 7?

3.You only get a three months warranty ,have to pay for a year, is this a problem?

4.i'm looking to spend less than £300 is this the best way to get the most bang for my buck

Ty in advance

not even approaching beginner geek but my advise would be to look on sites like ebuyer for a new but maybe not so powerful one. You only need those really powerful ones if you want to launch several exploratory space rockets on a round the universe trip.

I'd be a bit wary of re-conditioned.

Depends what you're doing with it, just internet and email etc then I'd just nip down to ya local tesco or the likes, they flog new ones which will happily suit most users for 300 squid or so.

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack!

I bought a re-con HP from PC World about three years ago. I had to send the first one back as it had a suspected motherboard problem (green and black lines across the screen) but the one I had back has performed perfectly ever since.
